This week is the start of the SA Amatuer League competition for Division 1...all other Divisions started last week!

Round 1 - Division 1

Henley v Salisbury North @ Henley Oval

Rostrevor v Gaza @ Campbelltown Oval

Gepps Cross v Woodville South @ Duncan Fraser Reserve

Broadview v Goodwood @ Broadview

Port Districts v Adelaide Uni @ Largs Reserve

It should be a really tight season this year in Division 1, with the usual suspects Broadview, Gaza, Goodwood being around the mark, with the Tigers the team to beat. ROCS, Henley, Port Districts, Adelaide Uni and Salisbury North should all be around the mark with Woodville South and Gepps Cross tip to struggle.

Round 2 - Division 2

Flinders Park v St Peters @ Flinders Park Oval

Scotch v PHOS Camden @ Scotch College

Tea Tree Gully v Edwardstwon @ Pertaringa Oval

Seaton Ramblers v Kilburn @ Pedlar Reserve

SMOSH West Lakes v Prince Alfred @ West Lakes Shore Oval

ill be up at golden grove's harpers field, which is a beaut new oval, watching the grovies go round in A5. Went to see them last week against ingle farm, we kicked 13 goals to 4 in the 3rd quarter on the way to a 5 goal win. And that was in 37 degree temperatures.

Did they stop games mid way through the quarters for a "heat break"?

I know a few blokes from A3 and A5 clubs and some say they did, some say they didn't. I thought the rule was introduced to be utilised/enforced.

and it will be envoked again this week, (or at least should be) with all reserves/curtain raiser games starting 10 mins early at 12.05pm...
32 degrees forecasted, i think thats a little lenient, but it was defenatley needed last week

What? Some did some didn't......that was my point. I know the SANFL did, but some amateur league clubs didn't get the luxury. An A3 game I went and saw had heat breaks only in the last half. "some" players complained because the breaks occurred after 15 mins and it stopped momentum etc.

I'm the Team Manager of an A7 team & we were under strict instructions that we had to break between every quarter.

We got a letter from the SANFL saying every amatuer league game was suppose to.

I'm off to Dwight Reserve for A3 game Eastern Park v Athelstone. Last couple of times the Raggies have copped a hiding up there.

Will be interesting to see how it goes this week. Will be bloody hot too. There were breaks in the Athelstone v Pooraka game last week.

How have the Elizabeth Eagles been going in the first two weeks????

I hate Eastern Park BTW - we call their oval Needle Park.

Undefeated after round 2.

Surprised to see that they've dropped to Div. 6.

Nothing like a Salisbury v Elizabeth derby.

That's great news about elizabeth.
They dropped cos they lost a heap of their players over the past five years. The club had a downturn, but there appears to be a resurgence at the club.
The players that have returned would mean the club would be very competitive in Div 4.
A lot of blokes have returned that played a1 to a3. so it's looking good.

I hope to get a permit and play a couple of games for them when my team has a byew this year.

Same thing happened at Salisbury - all the young guns from years ago finally returned to the club and its been one division to the next ever since.

If only we had the money those dirty, stinky Hawks have to throw around.

St Pauls C.O.S mate....We've got a few of our old players back & we don't look too bad this year in both grades.

I'm glad we're not playing your mob again this year. I was overseas last year while finals were on and i couldn't believe when i got back you lot lost to Henley in the GF. CLG was clearly the best team all year!

All Div 1 games were stopped midway through each quarter for the heat rule and apparently Rostrevor did a good job of using it to their advantage. Tim Symes (playing coach) made sure he was on the ground before each stop so he could address his players something Greg Anderson (coach - GAZA) was unable to do with the rules stating only players and trainers are allowed on the field during the break.
Port District had a great win versus Adelaide University slamming on 8 goals in the last quarter to run out 20 pt winners after trailing all day. It was former Port Magpies Matt Ashley and Stephen Carter that turned it round for Port District. The port foward line looked pretty dangerous with Phil Burgoyne (brother of Peter & Shaun) kicking 3 goals in the second half after starting on the bench.

Does anyone from Salisbury North actually play there any more????

If I don't get a permit - I'm sure an assumed name could easily come into play. I've just got to play with all my mates again!
