The red backs are struggling again in the field today. Victoria 1 for 273. But this maybe a sign that Victoria is that much better, rather than the red backs being crap. Plus i think our bowlers get lucky last game against Tasmania. a combination of the two, Victoria is a quality team and our bowlers are not in the same league as Victoria's batters.

We have good batting depth but the weakness is the bowling.

that i think

in short....

At tea on the third day the Redbacks were 0-51 in their second innings after Victoria declared their first innings at 9-643, for an overall lead of 351.

now, SA are 1 for 85

Honestly, we're not a state with depth good enough to cover the injuries we have, especially in the bowling attack.

Lets hope we show some fight though, and atleast make them earn the outright points tomorrow.

considering only 1/2 the team is SA born, I think the depth issue is well and truly out there.

Thoughts so far

1. Why wasn't Wise given a go? I think we could've used his left arm swing. Mix it up a bit! Get rid of Haberfield for the time being.

2. I don't think we should be too hard on the boys for this one just yet. Hodge was a bee's dick away from being given out on his very first ball. I've seen those given out many times before so it was just unfortunate for us that he went on to score another 195 runs.

3. What's the point of having a genuine spinner in the team if you're going to bowl a part time spinner more often?

4. Are Victoria ever going to play bad against us?

At 2/255 with Harris on 117 and Bailey on 66 we shouldn't be looking at an outright loss:thumbsu:

Nice to see a bit of fight and pride in the batting line up as opposed to the usual spinelessness!

It's getting to the stage where I just have to laugh cos If I really think about the isues we have at the momment It really is Quite sad!
Don't be too Upset, Bailey just got dismissed for 91 which Was a very good knock. We will now avoid Outright defeat and considering the Strength of the Victorian side and our inexperienced bowling attack, it's Not such a bad effort.

Very proud of the boys for batting out the day avoiding an outright defeat! Brilliant captains innings from Harris :thumbsu: I think it was a great decision to send Bailey in as the night watchmen, clearly the most competent batter of the bowlers!! Should give him some great confidence!

2 games down without a loss

We lost on first innings... Our bowling stocks are very depleted ATM. wait til clearly Duvall etc come back. The way our top order folded in the first dig is more a concern for mine...

Klinger is certainly struggling for form after an outstanding season last year. I just hope they don't kneejerk and bring in a spud such as Borgas.

Went to primary school withe Jason and cam borgas. Was always better than them... Until about 14 years ago probably. Haha

4/379 after lunch on day 2 with Borgas bring up his century with a 6:thumbsu:

I realise it's pretty slow, tedious going, but I for one am pleased with a redback's batting line up that's consistantly showing discipline and hardwork across the board for the first time this millenium.

Realistically, this bowling line ups not gonna take 20 wickets anyway, may as well bat slow, remove the chance of an outright loss, and try for FI.

Agree, the only way our bowling line up could come close to that is if we bat for another day, making Queensland field 2 and a half days in the heat and they're so ****ed they get themselves out.

Probably could do it to with Bailey, Christian and Ludeman still to come!

Having said that Borgas has now taken 18 off the first 4 balls of a Simpson over with 3 6's. Indicate a declaration today?
Would definitely seem to indicate that the shackles have come off now that he's reached triple figures. No more being tentative in order to avoid getting out short of the milestone.

477 is ok, Hopefuly big Pete George can continue some of his good form and take 2 or 3 today, D.Christian pick up 1 or 2 and Bailey tie up an end. Well done C.Borgas, I have been a knocker for a long time but maybe you have turned the corner sir! I still think J.Borgas is our best option at the top of the line up along with Smith and have Dan Harris at three, Maxxy Clinger at four, C.Borgas/M.Cosgrove at five and T.Cooper at six, thats enough fire power late for the slower batters J.Borgas, Dan Harris and Maxxy Klinger up the top of the order, then with Christian, Cleary or Duval and Bailey all capable with the bat, Manou and Ludeman's batting has been strong this year. Georgie as a genuine number Eleven, the only thing I am worried about is our ability to take 20 wickets, Missing Cleary is hurting our Prospects, Big Pete has been exceptional early, Baliey needs to be a threat with the ball or at least be able to build pressure and contain from an end, Cleary in the side adds alot, he is a genuine threat and a smart bowler, Christian is ok but I am not sold on him just yet as a bowler. if after christmas we are sitting top 3 and S.Tait can get his body and fitness right, If Big Pete George can keep up with his improved efforts and Cullen Bailey can rejuvinate his international ambitions, a top three finish is not out of the question!
