So what should he do? Leave every ball outside off stump alone? Or should he have tried to thrash the ball to the fence instead?

So basically dismissals are never batsmen's fault?

As Ranga said, if it comes off hes brilliant and on his way to another ton. This time it didnt work and we have yet another horrible collapse. Did the time call for the shot ?? Probably not, but thats Cossies game and its been working for him of late. But this is the least of our issues. Yet again only a few guys can be consistantly relied upon to make runs and our captain has lost all signs of form that has seen him reach the highest level. Borgas still cant quite get enough consistancy for my liking and Christian isnt performing as well with the bat as he is with the ball.

Make no mistake this was a terrible final day performance against an attack that really is dross. But true to form with the selectors, itll be Bailey who gets chopped even though he bowled pretty well.

I think the point hes making is that, like Boofa, he plays the shot reasonably well but this time it doesnt come off.

Yes, you can get beaten by a better ball.

But getting out as he commonly does trying to belt a ball over the infield because he cbf running, or playing little gliding shots without watching the ball to realise it's cutting is just lazy cricket!

The really irritating thing is that these dismissals frequently happen on days like today when he's really needed to stand up.

Yes, you can get beaten by a better ball.

You really need to watch some cricket. The vast majority of dismissals are batter error. It is exceedingly rare for a bowler to get the ball to move half a bat width very late and genuinely defeat the batter all ends up.

But getting out as he commonly does trying to belt a ball over the infield because he cbf running, or playing little gliding shots without watching the ball to realise it's cutting is just lazy cricket!

Care to comment on the fact that he has scored at a higher Shield career average than ALL of our other batters by hitting the ball over the field and gliding the ball to third man? So he should remove the shots that have made him our most effective batsman... please.

I think you'll find that we need him to make runs every innings. We always need him to make runs because we're shit and he's our only match winner. So every time he gets out he's basically lost us the game because he's the only one who can win it for us
