SACA Redbacks 09/10 Thread

That was the coach apparently.

I was watching on TV and Tait was only averaging around 135-140km/ph, which I believe may be quite a bit slower than what he was bowling for Sturt a couple of weekends ago.

:(

Hope Klinger was giving him a spray.

It was Klinger having a barney with Mark Sorell, presumably right after he found out he was being relegated to drinks carrier.

You could pick Cosgrove out quite easily... I swear you could position him halfway between Point and Cover and the batsmen would not be able to hit around him through either position. Sure, Boof Lehman was always a big guy, and never the fittest man in the line up... but seriously, he was never even close to this bad. Cosgrove can play for whichever state team he likes, and score as many runs as he wants, but the Australian selectors will not pick a man who is that unfit, plain and simple.

Seriously, just when I think the Redbacks might stop being a complete and utter joke, we drop a guy who was our best bat last year by an absolute mile, who just made a ton a few days before - and we keep in an unfit, petulant tosser who can't be bothered taking the game seriously.

Why the hell would you drop your best batsman?!?!

And the amount of runs Cosgrove makes in Shield Cricket is irrelevant - if he's playing in a ODI or a Test and batting with any of the current side, they're going to be trying to run 3s when he can only run 2s and he's to slow in the field, simple as that.

Controversial comment coming, but am I the only one that thinks we shouldn't pick Tait anymore. Sorry but I have a real issue with someone who thinks they can just pick and choose when they play.
His body is doing the picking and choosing for him. When he was fit he played every game, including four dayers. Took a heap of Shield wickets one season.

Once he has a few games under his belt he will be our best strike bowler again in the one dayers and Twenty20's.

I tend to agree with you for Shield cricket but in One Dayers and 20/20 i think it is fair enough.

I think we should be able to go without him in Shield matches.

The blokes body cannot stand up to the rigours of continual 4 day cricket. Cricket has changed, if he can only play one dayers and T20 then I am happy with that. If he can get his body right he will be a massive weapon for us.

In a perfect world you would love him to play 4 dayers but he cant.

This isnt one of those 'depression means you're weak and lazy' things is it?

I haven't seen any deliveries yet but apparently Klinger hit the ball... got LBW... and Doc Harris didn't hit it yet got caught.

Will have to have a look when I get home from work.
Klinger's was tight, maybe a tickle but you can understand that it was given out, Harris seemed a little more unlucky, but there was a flurry of noises.

And why the **** does Borgas keep getting a game, shocking shot in the context of the game.

By the sounds of it, this is the red backs we know and love and the form expected for mid October. :thumbsu:

Manou needs to resume his position at number 6 or 7.

Christian is meant to be an allrounder isn't he?

Also, I know our batsmen are meant to make the runs but when was the last time our tail chipped in with anything decent? You see other teams bowlers like Magoffin, Noffke, Cutting all scoring runs but none of our bowlers have ever been half decent with the bat. Tait, George, Haberfield, Rofe, Cullen.

On a good note though, O'Brien has been a pretty handy pick up :thumbsu:

A couple of thoughts:

C98: To be fair the Redbacks one day form in October is usually decent, maybe just playing in reverse this year?

Manou batting at 4 is a selection panel decision. He made comments relating to that on Monday.

Interesting to see George took the new ball from Tait. Tait must definitely be down on a few k's ph.

Its always a concern seeing Tait batting at 9, he is an out and out 11. (I know he has made a 50, but so has ohh ahh)

well 292 is a reasonable recovery from 4/67. Ludeman did well , where is Manou.

The redbacks look like baseballers out there with lots of red in their whites these days ( mainly just the helmet and numbers)

In India getting ready to play on a doctored wicket..... unless you were talking in jest.

The red backs are struggling again in the field today. Victoria 1 for 273. But this maybe a sign that Victoria is that much better, rather than the red backs being crap. Plus i think our bowlers get lucky last game against Tasmania. a combination of the two, Victoria is a quality team and our bowlers are not in the same league as Victoria's batters.

We have good batting depth but the weakness is the bowling.
