Time for Mark Sorrell to pack his bags and bring in Boof head as coach and so what if we made the 20/20 final, we only made it because of our 2 imports and part time player in Shaun Tate.

beat me to it!

maybe he's going for the whole box

Wasn't Boof part of the problem?

Yeah, he actually made runs. He made others look bad by doing things he was paid for.

Does it really matter if he was the ring leader to the parting ways because even if they were party boys or alter boys – either way, the current players are not very good.

Number one priority would be to score runs and take wickets, something they are not doing in the long form of the game.

Yea I know, and I love Boof, I just wonder whether it's the right move.

They need a real hardarse - whose first decision would be to 'trade' Cossie.

Apart from his unacceptable weight and fitness, IMO Kossy is the least of South Australia worries. I would be having a much harder look at someone like Shaun Tate who doesn’t seem to have a heart muscle once it come time to work harder than 5 seconds.

you’re right, they need that hard arse coach who will develop the talent for the future, bring the new guys through and still get the best out of the veteran players. Saying that I think Boof can be that person and still generate that respect needed to bring the best out of the players.

Russel "Nail" Thompson, Absolute hard arse, but gets respect from his players. Has played many of A grade games at SACA level and has been a perminent fixture with the State's junior sides. Has produced for many years at the "Jets" sides that perform.

They need more than just a hard arse coach and a plane ticket for Cosgove.

A broom needs to be taken to SACA adminstration, and vast changes need to be made to SA Grade Cricket.

Until that happens, nothing will change onfield for the Jellybacks.

Once again the arguement will arise, To many teams in the comp...

There should only be Three grades of Grade Cricket.

First Division, Premier Leauge, 5 teams, Three Grades each, One side to get Demoted. (Sturt, Glenelg, Northern Districts, Southern Districts and Woodville)
Second Division, State Leauge, 5 teams, Three Grades each, One side to get Premoted/Demoted. (West Torrens, Adelaide University, Kensington, Adelaide, Prince Alfred Old Scholars)
Third Division, Federation Leauge, 5 teams, Three Grades each, One side to get Premoted. (Tea Tree Gully, Prospect, East Torrens, Port Adeliade, Goodwood)

From here there are 8 matches a year for each Division, each side plays against each other twice in a two day competition. With both innings counting for points.

As for Juniors,
Two Separate divisions in both the under 15's and 17's competitions, North and a South.
North: Tea Tree Gully, Northern Districts, Prospect, Port Adelaide, East Torrens, Woodville
South: Southern Districts, Kensington, Adelaide, Glenelg, Sturt, Goodwood

and the BankSA carnival becomes an under 19's competition, Better, Bigger stronger kids to play one dayers on the Occasional Sunday and to be an all year event

I started out disagreeing with you on the number of teams but on reflection of writing my post, I now agree with you. The riff raff have to be weeded out and a competition has to be available for the best players. Population wise, we have enough players to fill the teams; we just don’t have enough good players to make it a successful competition.

IMO i believe the South Australia population is big enough to facilitate that many clubs and teams, especially for a culturally significant sport like cricket.

Basketball, soccer or even hockey, you may have a valid point because kids are moving away from these sports for different reasons but because cricket is such a culturally significant sport to Australia, our population should be able to facilitate the needs created.

So IMO it’s the poor junior development of coaches between the age of 6/7 and 15 years old by the parents and primary school teacher who simply don’t have the skills to begin with. I’m not bagging them as so many people are ‘time poor’ now that anyone who volunteers should be supported but time and money only goes so far.

Junior coaches who have the development in teaching the correct technique in cricket (any sport really) are few and far between, so the kids coming though are just not good enough. kids these days have so many more options available to them, not like in the 50, 60, 70 and 80 where it was cricket in the summer and football in the winter and that’s all anyone played.

Australia will always have a mass of 7-15 year old kids playing cricket in the summer and football in the winter before they have to make a choice. The more skilled kids these days are just choosing different sports. That's the problem.

i agree with the coaching 1000%

Got a cousin who plays for one of the district teams - a spinner alrounder and he goes from under 14s coach who wouldnt bowl him cause he thought spiners were useless, 15s one who was supportive and now under 16s where he isnt used cause the other spinner is the coaches son - even watching from the sidelines is fustrating as it is

And there is too many teams/division in State cricket

Need someone to stand up and challange the SACA board or we are going to be like this for decades to come

yeah I just looked that up as to why someone was called up in the first place, seems very unlikley he will be required, good experience nonetheless. Might of been interesting if the series was level coming into the deciding test ;)

George was due to represent West Torrens in local grade finals this weekend

Bit of a difference !

Even the experiance of preperation and Bowling to Ponting, Clark, Hussey, Katitch in the nets will see him come on leaps and bounds! I hope he can do, or does a seccond stint at the AIS!

Peter George made it back in time to play on Day 2 of the Semi final against Sturt. Didn't help too much though. They only needed 100 runs on Day 2 to win it.

Grand Final this weekend at Adelaide Oval: Sturt vs Northern Districts. Game starts at 11:40am
