He obviously reads BF and took your advice!

Imagine if I revealed I was actually Dean Cox the entire time šŸ˜‚

I'm not, or am I?

No I am not

There's some funny, funny melts reading this thread from page one! Amazing how things look so different 11 months down the track.

My man HRH nailed it very early on.

While it looks rosy at the moment the night that it happened was a dark day for the club imo we were uncompetitive on a significant night for the club.

Definitely not denying that, last year was a nightmare. Still makes a funny read though.

Cox has been good this year thus far, but I think he can than the senior experienced additions like Goodwin who undoubtedly have been highly influential with the game style.

McCartin as a forward is really only now showing he had no idea early days & that move alone would have made players question if he was the man to play under for the next few years. He addressed that right away & started building a more positive resume from that point.
But don't let anyone tell that he is the main influence in what is happening here.
Goodwin the biggest of the lot but also Malceski as the seconds coach has a really good feel to things at the moment & our new recruiting guy gets an A+ because the ones he replaced were stale & making poor selections in the draft.

Long way to go but Cox is the man with such good experienced assistants around him.
Looking forward to what our recruiters can do these next few years.
Hayward & Florent out is a big winner for us, though unpopular at the time, but those boys' best is long behind them.
Helping to get Charlie is one reason but we'll need to sign up a few other important players these next few years & they would have been dead money in the cap.

Good hard decisions have been made which is what I've been screaming for. I too used to be romantic with the idea of keeping much loved players but there comes a time when players will be rubbed up the wrong way & two GF smashings says it's the right time. Bye bye if you don't like it.

I always ask this, but at a time when we were down / doubtful about three tall forwards, what exactly was so clueless about short term moving a player forward who played as a tall forward his entire junior career, was drafted as a tall forward, and began his career as a tall forward?

I still have my doubts about Cox but **** me... Never once has one of them been about him trying McCartin in the forward line for a few weeks.

It completely baffles me why people get so worked up about him playing a guy who was drafted as a forward, up forward, when we needed a forward, as through it was pure lunacy.

Because he was the closest thing to a marking defender we had.

Not worked up. But it was lunacy when we had no other tall marking defenders.

Yeah lunacy, except for the fact that the only defender that was out for opening round last year was Cunningham who, as much as I love him and he is the teams swiss army knife, is most certainly not what I'd call a tall, marking defender, whilst the forward line was missing both McDonald and McLean. So yeah, absolute lunacy that big Cox should try a guy that played his junior footy, was drafted as and played his first two seasons as a forward when we were two down up front.

Well it didn’t work. We lost the first two games.

No it didn't work, but that is, I would assume, the logic behind trying it.
If he'd have moved Rampe or even Melican forward I would understand the angst, but with the players he had available to him, it made the most sense to try Tommy.

Dean Cox is doing well. We needed to move on from Uncle Longmire.
A harder edge around the club, put a bit of stick about.

Assistants Laidler and Malceski became available, after spells elsewhere, and in particular, to have Simon Goodwin asst coaching from the bench, it has been an absolute luxury.

So the club has done well, and recruited well. Jai Serong looks a beauty, and Malcolm Rosas is showing signs as well. And what about Brodie Grundy!

We do seem to have a harder edge this season, when our foot is on the oppositions throat we're keeping it there. Haven't done that in years.
