it’s entirely reasonable for a port fan to be concerned that playing youth (which we want) will be used to excuse poor performances.

Performances that might be excusable except that many issues we have with Hinkley (gameplan, selections , stubbornness or slowness to change) etc and problems we have with the admin (talk of accountability rather than actual decision making) etc have nothing to do with playing kids.

since then has a been a consistent one paced performer who runs with steadfast regularity down just the one racetrack.
get him on another surface and he has little to give
for number of times he has been to the line, cannot be faulted.
occasionally lashes out with a hind leg when aroused.
for some punters is a favourite because always know what going to get from him a solid mediocrity
is well set for the long distance race and is the current favourite at 11 to 10.

We'll Mayes didn't play a game. However, we 'played the youf' by making sure:
- Ryder got more games than Frampton, Ladhams and Marshall combined, then got traded.
- Broadbent got 6 more games than Garner, then got delisted
- S Gray got 13 more games than Farrell, Cox & Woodcock combined then got delisted

Well Mayes off a knee reconstruction was never playing AFL last year.
Frampton is a hack
Ladhams and only started to find his feet last year and was lucky to be on the list at the start of the year.
Farrell doesn't demand a spot as yet got chances though. His development looks ok.

Mayes was traded from Brisbane for pick 35 (received from Hawthorn as part of Wingard trade).

Both Frampton & Farrell averaged more goals per game than Ryder & S Gray at AFL level.

Too willing to believe that someone is telling the truth that people's intentions in general are good, or that life is simple and fair. People are often naive because they are young and/or have not had much experience of life.
