We have been so blah since 2008 we have re-written the adage of being an island of excellence in a sea of mediocrity to being an island of mediocrity amidst a sea of excellence. Gross
We have a board that values stability way above success. Our little island of mediocrity is just the outcome the board is targeting.

Hinkley will coach the PAFC for as long as he wants.

Compare our 2007 list that made a grand final to the lists we’ve had the past few seasons.

I can’t fathom how we made it in 07 but not once the last few years.
Maybe, just maybe, Hinkley isn't a very good coach.

lol, what am I saying? Everyone knows if he didn't have such a pathetic list to work with Hinkley would have won multiple flags by now. Never forget how bad we were in 2012.

Tribey’s Island of Mediocrity™ metric needs to an animated form showing each club jumping across to the promised land.

Yeah, it’s the active embracing it that gets me.

Rucci’s propaganda push in the wake of arguably the club’s most embarrassing loss ever was some of the most tonally inappropriate garbage I’ve ever read.

It’s working too. Some of the apologist nonsense that comes out of Hinkleyphiles’ mouths would be rejected by rival fans’ troll farms as ‘too obvious/unrealistic’.

It’s like we’re trying to be Central District on the national stage. A blue-collar minnow just happy to get lucky and cash in here and there at the expense of the traditional powerhouses.

Pathetic with a capital P.

The port Adelaide football playing list is not a stand alone entity in a vacuum. Remove the vacuum and there are 17 other entities all striving to maximize their list all at the same time. So a playing list is relative figure not an absolute figure. It is dependent on decisions made, opportunities taken or ignored, risks taken and not to forget luck. A club can largely control what they do but it is still relative to what others are doing. How you quantify or qualitative this is a matter of perception, bias, belief system etc. Each year there is a rebirth of optimism for improvement but it is a relative improvement. Team A might improve by say X but team B might improve their playing list by X plus 1 and their are any number of relative calculations for what 16 entities.

So a lot of clubs have done relatively better than we have over the past 9 years. And where does the buck stop?
