You can't even compare the way Premier League clubs are run to AFL clubs. It's something like 6-8 out of 20 managers in the Premier League have been sacked and replaced already, the season is only 11 games old. There isn't the longevity being a manager in the Premier League outside of Guardiola, Klopp and not many else that we see in the AFL. If Koch was in charge of a English football club they'd be languishing in League Two after consecutive relegations with him saying we're on a path etc while the fans protest.

I agree with getting Hinkley out, his almost decade at our club has proven what he is. It's just laughable we're all still here saying what the club needs but the ones who make the call don't make it.

And further to that, the way Premier League clubs sack and hire managers ensures people like Sam Allardyce, Roy Hodgson and Steve Bruce get sacked and hired, sacked and hired, sacked and hired in some weird merry-go-round to try and set the world record for most jobs in history.

The AFL is almost the antithesis of that, where if you haven't won a flag or gone very close multiple times in your first stint as a head coach, you're probably never getting another gig. It's weird. In soccer and in the US sports, they value experience a lot more than we seem to here.

There's good experience and bad experience. In regards to Hinkley and Port Adelaide, I'd put him in the coaching category of someone with bad experience.

Despite his experience, how many games do Port get blown away within a quarter for the game to be over?

Despite his experience, why does our forward line lack structure where we regularly fail to isolate 1:1 contests against the better teams?

Despite his experience, why do players under his coaching reign have breakout years before dropping off dramatically?

Despite his experience, how could he not have started Drew on Libertore in the Preliminary Final?

Just a few examples of bad experience, there are plenty more. If the AFL had private ownership like The EPL then Hinkley would have been well forgotten by now, he would of been sacked at the end of 2016.

Hinkley has been noticeably absent since the prelim. Still processing the result I suppose 🤔
Hinkley has nothing to process about the Prelim result. As we know, it's a tough competition and someone has to lose. Just bad luck that on that occasion it was us. As he said, you need a bit of luck to win a Prelim so he'd be hoping for better luck next time.

He'd be on leave wouldn't he? Back to work next week.

I dont agree with the overall use of generalisations of this critique, but consider it an ok/fair posting.
however, i don't agree with the too many postings which sometimes singular but in some cases cumulative are basically a form of harassment.
a moderators unenviable job is to make it clear as per general policy of what is ok and not ok.
individual reports could give a pattern of what posters object to but it comes back to..
self regulating is probably not the answer.
as a start anything concerning an individuals family, image copyright of images could be starting points.

We've seen this before. Because he doesn't have to worry about the press he doesn't go on some self improvement work holiday to learn how to do his job better, he goes underground until he thinks things have cooled off. IIRC things still hadn't chilled enough after the co-captaincy announcement he no showed for the AGM and blamed it on some wife's second cousin once-removed's wedding.

Im not blaming Ken so much for the forward structure.

Our forward line has performed 100 times worse than the sum of its parts since Bassett came in. Worst line coach in the AFL. Needs to go before Ken.

What if we can arrange a meet and greet with Ken for praise and signatures and a true believers function but then give him directions to an anti vax rally?

It also seems, as someone who doesn't follow them, lists are turned over much more regularly, the idea of a head coach having half a dozen years to develop a list without any trophies seems like it would be an anomaly.

Not just the EPL, they voted Churchill out in 1945 after winning a world war after taking charge of a UK in 1940 that found itself in a slightly worse position than PA in 2012.

Roosevelt may dispute that Churchill won the war.

Roosevelt may dispute that Churchill won the war.

erm Roosevelt wasn’t in much of a position to dispute anything by the time Atlee was elected.

Sack Hinkley anyway, he (and Kochie!) are more don’t-rock-the-boat Neville Chamberlain than Winston ;)

Unfortunately Roosevelt died in 1945 before Germany surrendered.

Being older than Hinkley I am likely to die of old age while he is still coaching us and in search of his first flag. :(

World War 2 was won and lost in Stalingrad. Ive seen the movie.

Moscow, Rhzev, Stalingrad, Kursk even... nah these are battles. Mega battles sure but still logistics rule at that scale. The war was definitively lost on December 7 1941 when Hitler needlessly decided to declare war on the US post Pearl Harbour, thus formally dragging them into the European war. Before then, there was some chance he could have fought to some kind of perpetual stalemate in the east and in the Mediterranean.

Anyway, sack Hinkley he couldn't logistic his way to a crate of coke zero in a Moscow blizzard ;)

A goals compilation from 2014 came up on youtube earlier and it was ridiculous how much bigger the forward 50 seemed to be the way our forwards operated back then.

The Foforward 50 can look big when you have two leading forwards and not a braindead gorilla style forward who attracts the ball and 30 defenders.
