Far, Far to much money to walk away from. Not going to happen.

We'll have to sack him or hope another coach gets sacked and that club is dumb enough to want Hinkley. We'll still have to make up the difference in his salary, but i guess 600/700K payout (per year) is better then +1Mil
It’s frightening to think he is paid like a top class
gee you love to re-write history. i love how you save it up until all hope is lost and then go, yeah i knew this back in 2017 but never really said it aloud.

it's like Wingard being the bane of all evil in the squad and as soon as it was obvious he was out you wrote a story where our entire failures were on his shoulders. then 6 months later shock horror we haven't changed at all as a club.

Pretty sure the well coached richmond had a similar profile when they made us look like a left over burrito.

Geelong had a massive contingent of sub 50 game players last night while they sit atop the ladder. no shock to see you default to a "growing club" and "injuries to key players"
I wish we were like geelong, roughly the same player demographic but

Geelong senior players never seem to let them down. I wish ours were the same. Their senior players get them over the line in close games or lift when required, ours never do.

The club's entire angle this year about pushing the rebuilding list and exciting young talent because they knew this crap was coming. I read a report today from the advertiser that reads like a pafc press release by Jesper. The more we suck the more they push it, it isn't working because we all know what needs to happen for 2+ seasons now.

hows this PR machine.

sub 20 game club: 5v7
sub 50 game club: 4v3
sub 100 game club: 3v2

one of these clubs is on it's knees and hoping to creep to the bye and by all accounts is acceptable to win 4 of it's last 9. including against 2nd last and 3rd last coming into this week.

the other is healthy list management and game clear atop the ladder.

the breakdown of years on the list would be even more intriguing.

It's actually 7 sub 20, 4 sub 50, and 3 sub 100 for Port vs 5 sub 20, 4 sub 50 and 2 sub 100 for Geelong. 14 to 12.

But what you're not taking into consideration is the following. This is who has played more than one game this year:

Ryan Burton - 55 games
Riley Bonner - 30 games
Todd Marshall - 16 games
Willem Drew - 8 games

All of Geelong's players have played almost every game this year, except for Fort and Parsons. All their other players have played every game or just missed the one game.

What do we have? Burton missing games through injury, Amon missing games through injury and Drew, Marshall and Bonner showing glimpses but being inconsistent.

And why are they inconsistent? Because injuries force them to be moved around the field to compensate for the loss of Watts, the inclusion of Wines, the loss of Jonas, the loss of Gray, the loss of Ebert etc.

There's no simple solution.

Retiring after the 1995 AFL Grand Final, Hinkley joined Hampden Football League club Mortlake as coach, where he remained for three seasons. He then returned to Camperdown and steered his former club to back to back premierships in 1999 and 2000, the former as captain-coach. St Kilda acquired his services as an assistant coach in 2001 but the following year he took up the role of senior coach of Bell Park in the Geelong Football League and oversaw a premiership in 2003. He resumed his AFL coaching career in 2004, as an assistant to Mark Thompson at Geelong. At the end of the 2009 season, Hinkley was announced as an assistant at the new Gold Coast Suns Franchise. Hinkley has also interviewed for the Richmond, Geelong and St Kilda senior coach positions but was unsuccessful.

If Ken was so highly regarded at Geelong, how come they and other clubs turned him down as a senior coach.
He was good at the role he had but not as a head coach, which was identified by his own club.

What's the bet this week Rucci will produce some slop about "a game plan the Port players aren't yet skilled enough to execute" and "Port supporters need to learn to have some patience with a young list and a new game plan". Blah blah.

Unfortunately, Rucci is such a fragile human he'll never point an accusatory finger at Hinkley because Hinkley treats him nicely.

Same with kane

He’s Tuesday segment with Hinkley is weak as

Until the heat starts to come onto Hinkley we are stuck with him. Kane jumps all over everything from other clubs but turns a blind eye to anything that leads to Hinkley criticism.

If Hinkley gets sacked, the new coach will have to do exactly the same thing.

Still haven't heard anyone answer why Clarkson played a team without a recognised key forward.

Are we pretending that 193cm Gunston is played as anything other than KPF?

50+ goals in four of the last six seasons.

I already mentioned Parsons. He played on the weekend.

Ratugolea has played 8 games out of a possible 10 this year.

Constable has played 7 games out of a possible 10 this year.

Menegola has played 7 games out of a possible 10. He's best 22 and injured.

Abbott and Guthrie played as many games this year as Johnson, Atley and Garner have. They can't possibly count.

193 cm isn't key forward height anymore. Gunston has been playing as a defender for quite a bit.

How did he kick his goals? Was it from contested marking or from general around the ground play? Did he bring other players into the game by bringing the ball to ground or creating space? Because that's what a key forward does.

“But today he was probably the difference between the two sides, in terms of him being able to get his hands on the footy and then convert opportunities.

“On a pretty grubby day, his polish with the ball in the front third of the ground was pretty important for us in securing the victory."

Much easier to get your hands on the footy when your mids turns up and don’t deliver the ball like ours do.

Hawthorn have a discernable system. So do Geelong, Collingwood, West Coast, Adelaide, GWS and Richmond. We do not. We are a haphazard, run like headless chickens, try and be brave football team. Its obvious for anyone to see. The only time we play the game on our terms is when the opposition let us.

Okay cool. What is it?
