Sad bad news in Adelaide

Today a 5 year old girl was abducted in suburban Adelaide, she was r*ped, and then let go, somehow she managed to get help.

Use all and every word you can think of, it still does not describe the upper contempt we should feel for the animal, that was able to do this foul crime to a 5 year old innocent child

and people STILL tell me that there should be no death penalty.

Like hell, I volunteer to shoot, hang, behead, poison, gas, electrocute, or just plain beat the bastard to death

Firstly let me just say that what happend was serverly ****ed up and when this guy gets caught he is going to wish he is dead when they put him in general populations with the rest of the prison inmates.

That aside many rape cases recently have recieved almost murder like sentences?
Is rape as bad as murder?
My opinion is that it is no where near as bad.

This may not be politically correct, but I believe that a crime against a child, is magnified, and all the more horrible / disgusting / foul / whatever else you can think of, just because the crime was against a child.

A child can never fight back, he / she has no ability to understand what is happenong to them, they have no reference point to work with. They are traumatised beyond understanding.

All the above can hold true for rape against any female, any age. Rape IS NOT the fault of the female, never ever no matter what.

Crimes against children affect me worse than crimes against adults, I hope that doesn't offend anyone.

Parkside LL.......I wanted to vent my spleen about this but since I heard it every time I think about it I just want to weep. I have two beautiful children (a girl of 5 also) I just couldnt imagine what I would feel if any thing remotely like this happened to her. It ****** disgusts me and makes me feel sick to the core.

Very narrow minded judgement without looking at the individual circumstances of each particular case...........

Whilst I don't believe in the death penalty I am a strong believer in corporal punishment and cases like this are a perfect example of where it should be used................make the bastard suffer for the rest of his life.............his victim and family have the same sentence.............

I have to say when dealing with paedophiles I believe that the death penalty is probably the best thing, but I don't mean it in that vengeful hang 'em high sort of way just that it is abundantly clear that a vast majority of these people if released will attempt to carry out another or attack & I would wager that the small percentage that don't have to fight very hard against the impulse.

If we let them out & they do it again then society has failed it's most vulnerable group, there are those that would say that the death penalty is a sign of a society that lacks compassion & perhaps in most cases they are correct but what do you make of a society that armed with all the knowledge we have allows these people out to re-offend.


But I have to say that feelings of revenge however natural are probably detrimental to everyone particualrly the person having them (that's not to say that I don't have them myself)

Given that I have various practical opposition to the death penalty, even in horrific cases like this, it makes it that much easier to agree with mantis.

What a perp of a crime like this would get in prison is far worse than a few thousand volts of electricity and a quick clean death. I'd say that 95-99% of convicts would be just as outraged by this as the general public- crims have children too, and I think that any guy put away for this would have his existence behind bars made living hell until he took his own miserable life

Yes but he'd be kept in a secure block with other 'untouchables' & how long would he serve?If it's his first offence going by English sentencing then he may be out after 5 years(perhaps less) & then he's probably going to do it again.Plus whilst inside he'll probably meet a load of other paedophiles, they'll probably swap stories & get off on it, tell each other about good web sites & let each other join their paedophile rings.

To me this risk to other children of releasing these people is a far greater moral outrage than the death penalty itself.

It's ok going on about wanting these people to suffer in whatever way but I think the kids would be better served by making sure they can't re-offend.
Personally I'd take more satisfaction out of knowing that I'd made sure no more children would suffer at his hands than any suffering I'd inflicted on him, as much as I despise what these people do I think it's fair to say that they've got a sickness & would probably given the chance rather not have these desires at all.

All of you are saying give him a worse punishment than murder but do you realise that even for murder people are getting weak sentences like 10 years ?

Also, you all say shove him in jail but do you realise jails these days are even more luxurious than the likely home of the parasite that is jailed ? They have pay tv, air conditioning, entertainment etc etc. Some people probably even deliberately do crime so they go to jail !
