Maybe Austin was way off his KPIs last week.

Maybe Saddo is fitter now than he has been since coming across from the swans.

Maybe there's a particular job the MC want done on saturday and they think Saddo's the man.

All this second-guessing the MC gets a bit much at times - they sit for hours analysing and planning all this stuff. I for one am prepared to accept that they probably know better than people posting on BF.

And Saddo has kicked some good goals here and there, and seems to always have played with heart.

Austin is young and will get more cracks at it. Saddo is probably the better player of the two right at the minute.

It is a crucial game for us and quiet simply Saddo has the bulk to play on the gorillas of this world, on this occasion its probably White for them. Last week we couldnt cope with that big pr#ck Moran who played the game of his life. This is our last chance at Finals we do not wont to let any other slow big forward become a match winner.

Match committee want to use Waite as a rebounding Half Back and use the other talls to stop these really big guys who are ruckman/forward types. Aussie will be back, no concerns there, let him have a run in the magoo's. Next year, and the years folliwng he Jammo and Bower will be able to take the role of handling the bigs, for now however we need the experience and size of Saddo to play on these blokes. IMO its a good move.

GO BLUES!!

Uhh, no he doesn't.

Getting muscled out of contest after contest by a young Justin Westhoff in his first year would also suggest otherwise.

I see no logic in it at all. This would have been a perfect time to get experience into Austin.

Austin will play if Eddie doesnt prove his fitness tomorrow... ;)
There is no way Eddie could be risked. Think AB more likely to get nod unless Waite or Saddington starting at CHF

A couple of times this year the MC have not concerned themselves with instilling confidence by showing faith in youngsters. I imagine the players have been told they will be using one criteria this year - we will be picking the best team to beat the opposition

I think that bringing Sado in is a pretty clear indication that we will be pushing as hard as we can to play finals.

I know that we would probably win this week regardless of whether we bring in someone senior for Austin or not, however if the MC intend on playing Saddo in the following weeks it is a good idea to get him used to AFL again in a somewhat easier game....
You have got to be kidding "somewhat easier game", Port are way over the odds of $4, i have a bad feeling about this game.

Was that one of Saddo's first games back after injury?? Look I am not a big fan of Saddo's however he doesnt do too bad against the big blokes and that would be the reasoning for him being included. We could have done with him as an option last week against Moran.

anyone else notice how badly Austin played last week, and how well Sadington has been for most of the year in the same position?

Pick the best 22 out of the list, only way to get back a winning culture.

I suppose you think North or Brisbane at the Gabba to be easier prospects then? I'm confident of this game because we lost last week, the players will be hungry from that!

Its simple. We need a bloke that can actually take a grab. Saddington can.

And I'm not too worried about Saddington getting a game late in the year against a club we should beat anyway. No-one else has obviouslyput their hand up. And the guy has earnt at least one last send off given his years of playing experience.

Interesting selection.

All I can think of is that the list management meeting has been held, and some of the guys who are likely to be axed are being given one last chance to show they have a future.

Who would be more desperate this week........Austin, trying to learn the ropes........or Saddington fighting for his career.

Easily the worst decision made by any Carlton FC match committee ever!
Saddo has no future at the club, he is a has been, we owe him nothing (a la essendon & jason johnson).
Pitiful and outrageous, if they believe Austin needs to play 2's this week why wouldnt they give another youngster a go - no more needs to be said.

Austin was bad last week. Saddington was great. You play better players. Geelong played king in the ruck in lst years GF becuse they thought he would perform better than Blake. They didnt choose to play blake becuse he was part of the future nor did they not choose king because he was to old and wasnt part of the future. Unlike the last few years we are pursuing finals and whie we are still int he hunt the best team available will be played every week

The last time we see Kenny Hunters number being ineffective me thinks - Hope they put a decent young player in his gurnsey next year. The jumper derserves more. It's nice if they give him a swan song but at the same time good bye.

It's a totally different scenario. How can you even compare?

Geelong were playing for a premiership. We, are a developing team outside of the 8. Despite fighting to get into the 8. Playing somebody of whom has no future at our club ahead of somebody who could potentially be apart of the team for the next 10+ years?

Play the team that is going to be the core of our rise to the top. Not players for a quick fix.
