Look guys, i might cop a bit of flack for this, but imo, Saddo should be included to bolster our defence. He is a strong body and a proven defender, only thing is though, his disposal lets him down.

Wat do you guys think? I believe he could be used in rotation with Setanta, Jamo and Waite for the tall options.

i agree 100%.. i can't believe how every post you make is spot on... you are a great poster bolz.

bolz you should be a mod... :thumbsu:

This will cop a lot of ridicule I'm sure, but I'd like to see him tried at half forward.
I remember him during one of the last few games of last year being put into the forward line and actually looking OK!

if hartlett breaks down i wouldnt disagree too much. Would provide insurance down back for if we wanted to swing waitey if the game needed it. That said i'd probably rather kreuzer or cloke rotating thru HF

Let me guess....same poster under different names?

Saddington is a liability, cant hold key forwards and won't be on the list in 2009.

Clearly.

Me thinks you are spot on

Bullants board for JS

but.......agree with poster that says he looks better at CHF (not saying he is good enough), stopping a key forward is just not his go.

I think that was the 2nd Collingwood game, he did ok. The thing is you could play Setanta, thornton Waite etc there as well and all would do basically the same job. So once again he's better used as an emergency if we encounter some injuries.

Think he is over criticised.

I don't think he belongs deep in defence...just doesn't have the explosive speed needed. I think he is probably best played on a half back flank. He's a smart player, has good endurance for his size and, in contrast to what others have said, I think his skills are good, so he can create some drive.

Remember when we first got him, most of the swans supporters had a big wrap for him and thought his best position was across HB and pushing up to the wing.

Having said that, he's going to struggle to get a game on the HB line unless Walker, Scotland and now Hadley get injured.

Gotta say I actually agree...he's in the second year out of a serious recurring knee injury, a bit like Hadlee, and apparently looking pretty good on the track.

The guy has 150 odd games under his belt, and in a team sorely lacking maturity I would give him a go early in the year and see what happens.

Maybe he only runs off the bench, but I think he could add a bit of composure in the backline (something severely lacking on Saturday night)

Sorry mate....this will be his 4th year back from injury......he lis as recovered as he is ever going to be

I thought he did reasonably in a small stint up forward in the second bombers game last year. It seems like he manages to mark and goal just about every time he goes forward. Good kick from around the 45m mark and reasonably good overhead mark. I think he should definitely be used up forward if we have injuries.

Considering our possible lack of forward options this year, I would definately consider him playing as a forward in 2008. He's played there in the past, for both us and the swans, and i think he'll be handy there. Would rather him in the forwardline than Thornton.

Either way, I definately don't want Saddo in defence. I think we've got our core defenders for the next few years set up, we just need to invest game time into them. I'm pretty confident going forward with Jamison, Bower, Waite and Setanta

Pretty sure Saddo never played KP for the Swans. Was usually a flanker/wingman. Didn't he used to keep Kouta quiet whenever he played on him from a wing? I used to have big wraps on him when he a Swan, but he's never been given those roles at the Blues.

I'd like to be Aaron Davey against that backline

Agree with that. Mine would look more like;

ARMFIELD SETANTA JAMISON

WALKER THORNTON SCOTLAND

Looking more and more like our structure will work better with Waite at CHF.

thornton may play forward. matchups could determine selections this year. that will be nice for a change

im all for Thornton playing forward every now and then

i just hope he doesnt do any U-turns and he ends up forgetting which way he should be kicking!!

Saddington in defence only slows the development of our young defenders. He won't be there next year, so let's move on and let him play our his career at the Bullants. I'd rather Austin in the side, let the kid learn and grow.
