Saddington

Personally i was hoping we had delisted him at the end of last year but that wasn't the case.

Not accountable, and struggles to hold down opponents. Gets pushed aside easily - and for a 28 year old that shouldn't be the case.

Hope he doesn't play a senior game this year. If he does then i think it'd be safe to say we're going to have another long year ahead.

Spot on post B.D.,

Saddo was a hell of a nice fella, but in the end, the reasons you have stated above are why the Swans lost patience with Saddington !!! He would play okay for periods of games and then go missing when we needed him to step up and apply minimal body contact or intensity.

For a backman where he played the majority of his football, he needed to take aleaf out of Craig Bolton's book and see what he does on taller, heavier and larger opponents week in week out.

The further knee injury at Carlton did not help his cause though. If fit, I would imagine Saddo having a run with Preston Bullants who are Carlton's VFL (reserves) affiliate.

That is bad news CM what a passsonate poster he was, maybe we will have to have a wake later in the year. And Saddo's gone like Schneider so who cares,i didn't bring it up somebody did in their 2nd ever post.LL summed him up.
Goodbye to this thread from myself

Glad to see him go in the end, dud of a defender. Not that he had much choice, would liked to have seen him play up forward or somewhere that suited his strengths, but was not strong enough to out muscle most forwards he played on. Just got thrown around like a rag doll. Carey played 1 good game for the Crows when he was with them, guess who was on him?

I am all for debate amongst Swans fans and if it becomes heated, then sometimes it just makes it all the more interesting for the rest of us. I also think it's fine to call out and discuss those players that we think should be doing better or should have done better for us in the past - and to discuss just why this is so.

But there's something very wrong about turning up here amongst fellow "supporters" and seeing comments about a bloke who gave more than 100 games of service to our club being referred to as a "dud" and "hopeless" and "useless". I really don't understand why anyone would want to make such rather disgraceful personal insults about one of ours who at the end of the day may just not have been talented enough to succeed the way we though he might. That's not his fault. I am sure that if there was ever a question about him not having been a hardworker or a real "trier" or having a ticker, he would not have lasted long under Rodney Eade. As it was he was a regular and used as a key position pinch-hitter by a coach famous for not taking shit from players.

The original critical comments from a Blues fan Blues Dimension, were intelligent and insightful, whether I agree with him/her or not. Some of the comments from our supporters since have not been. "the weakest player ever with Fiora" - wtf does that mean? What criteria is being used to judge strength/weakness? I'd really like to hear about it. It's just all rather silly.

Remember, when you criticize any player for not living up to expectations, just ask yourself whose expectations were they anyway. I am guessing they were probably only ever your own.

To me Saddington is not a defender, he is a 3rd forward option. This has been part of his problem at Carlton with us playing him or expecting him to play KP defence.

If Carlton didn't have Fisher/Waite up forward and used Saddington next to Fevola things might have been a bit different. I was excited when he came over but alas he has been played out of position and we have expected too much of him. I think Saddington would be good to a team like StKilda or Kangaroos (before Edwards) who have the Riewoldt's / Thompsons and he could playing as the 3rd tall with less pressure.

Carsoutback, you are a bloody legend. Well said sir. There are a few posters here who need to take note. You know who you are.

I sat near Saddles at the 05 grand final and at the end he looked shattered, he did his best for us ,not great but workmanlike.

michaelg, you're back

hiding behind another poster to have a snipe
why not just come out and have you say, name names, be done with it
i spent the offseason criticising certain players, i make no apologies
among them, j mcveigh and l barry, have received much praise from myself and others for their fantasic efforts in 2008 ...
is that not a fair shake?
do we need to revisit this?
we're all here on this board for open discussion, there are frequent disagreements, many of us have loyalties to some players, we all tread on each other's toes at times
sydney players, like other club's players, and every other person who's ever breathed air, are not perfect
they get paid big money, we PAY money to see them and support them
that entitles us to opinions
we generally express them in a civil, if sometimes emotional or passionate way
specifically, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?
at least carsoutback aired his/her opinion in a reasoned, well explained way
