What is your honest opinion of Matthew Carr? I noticed he has played 18 games for you this year but have heard little about him.

Carr is about 21 years and was recruited from East Fremantle. His story is quite similar to Woewodin I think. He came over from WA asking if he could do a pre-season with us and impressed so much that we drafted him.

He has a very good leap and is a strong mark. His major problem in my opinion is his decision-making. Often he would choose the wrong option and turn the ball over.

To Watson's credit he persisted with him all year and I would be surprised if he didn't turn out to be a very good player in the future.

He is also the older brother of Port Adelaide's Josh Carr.

Hope that helps!

Can you let me know about why Callaghan hasn't played too much recently? I can remember him as a gun player a few years ago.

Callaghan will be an asset to your club. he struggled to get a spot in the midfield this year with Cook, hasleby and Toia but was used on occassions in the forward pocket.
To be honest, i thought he played pretty well there and considering we struggled there all year would have been worth playing there.
Loves getting under the packs and will provide plenty of the ball for harvey and co.
His main problems are lack of foot speed and height but makes up for it with tenacity.
i think there was a division between him and Drum, but Blight will be able to use him and you will get something from him and can be switched to the midfield or the pocket.
He wears his heart on his sleeve but we really need defenders thus he was traded and I think both teams got something they needed.

I was a Matthew Carr supporter for sure.

He's a neat size, but he cannot hold down a key position.

He's more your flanker type.

He has neat disposal when he is given time, but as Sainter said his decision making is a real problem. He also tends to rush his disposal & puts too much pressure on his team mates in that regard.

He'd be in the middle bracket of pace at Fremantle, has a good leap & can take a good mark.

He needs to work on his second & third efforts & obviously being back home will at least take some pressure off him.

On Callaghan, I always liked him....but you would say its his pace that lets him down, would that be correct? Could someone elaborate...thanks.

Callaghan's a tough little guy -a former mine worker in Kal I thought (or was that Toia?). Think he had a few injury problems (knee?) this year, but was fantastic at Swan Districts, and boy did we need him. His pace isn't exactly what you'd call speedy, but can be deceptive.
