This is not a rumor or anything but more what I think would be an interesting trade.

Pick 9
For
Prismall + Cats 1st round (15/16/17)

It would mean the Saints get a midfielder who would start in there 22 with good disposal on both sides of his body. A poor mans Dal Santo if you like.
In addition you will still having a some good draft options like:
Rioli: Gun small forward
Vespremi - Skilled midfielder

It would mean you would lose the chance to pick up:
Rance: Gun KP backmen
McEvoy: Gun ruckmen who may slide to 9

What do you guys think. Would an extra midfielder of Prismall's quality be worth losing the chance to grab a KP backmen you need? I think it would be, particularly if you picked up a small forward in Rioli.

Forgetting about Judd

I don't think we will do much.

We don't have much to trade unless Maguire wants to go. We have 4 retirements so far so we will take at least 2 or 3 in the draft

I have no doubt you will retain McGuire.

Minimum 3 players must be draft. I suspect you will go for 4 or more as you have so many retirements. The trade would give your starting 22 depth and you still retain a 1st round pick (although a crappy one).

DanA, "respect" for coming onto the board in all seriousness. They problem as far as this proposal is concerned is Rance & McEvoy would both fill a need at St Kilda, that is a replacement KP defender for Max, and ruckmen.

I haven't seen much of Prismall, but it is true we need one or two more speedy midfielders. But I am not a complete member of the football cult of speed - you need to win the ball first.

Very interesting proposal DanA. I for one like what I saw from prismall early in the year. He looks like a likely type, how old is he? Unfortunately we aren't able to make that trade on draft day! If the players mentioned previously, Rance & McEvoy, are already gone by number 9 then I'm sure we'd love to make that trade. I think that it would definately be worth looking at and I wouldn't be too disappointed if it happened.

He turned 21 in July. Was BOG in the VFL semi final on the weekend with 32 possies & 2 goals.

He is not particularly quick but a very good user of the ball on both sides of the body.

Fergus Watts and our 3rd pick for a Bulldogs midfielder.
I can see your theory behind trading Watts but he is still untested at AFL level and may hurt his overall trade value. An injury to Reiwoltd or Kositkze would leave our forward structure in abit of bother, Watts is a player who can easily take on this challenge. With Gehrig out the team Watts is so much more valuable to us than before. I think he will play a much greater role for us this year even if it is just coming in for a few games when when injuries/suspensions come about or when we need Kosi in the ruck, he to me seems to valuable to us.

If Maguire did wanna go, what from Hawthorn would you guys be interested in?
Roughhead would be a possibility, Franklin, Mitchell

He is very much a required player, so there's no point suggesting guys who aren't getting a regular go. Two hacks and a draft pick (as is so often suggested around here) wouldn't cut it.

I like the idea of adding Prismall but not if it means parting with our first round pick. Suffice to say that I dont think the football club would think he is worth a first round pick either. At the same time we cannot wait 3 yrs for a ruckman to develop which is why taking a key backman with the 9th pick makes sense with a trade for Darren Jolley the answer as our ruckman. I would personally prefer this over the Prismall idea.

Firstly the OP suggest Pick 17 + Prismall for pick 9. Essentially you are losing 8 spots in the 1st round. That's different to giving up your 1st pick entirely.

Secondly I would not be surprised if Geelong got a pick from 15-20 for him. He is a very very good player.

backmen also take 3 years to develop. get mcevoy n turn him into a back.
