Opinion Saints Blog

I would be interested.

I actually thought of starting my own Saints related blog a while back before realising that there were other better staffed ones out there.

Is there a criteria?

I can be an occasional contributor..

So far The Punter has done everything for the Saints blog.

I want to help him out and he wants others to contribute.

Obviously there is a bit of polish needed for such an endeavour, so we will ask for articles to be submitted, some editing may be performed and pictures might be sourced / tables created etcetera.

Ideally, I think this is what we need:

- At a basic level, someone to do match reports. These will be fairly vanilla, but they are vital as they provide an entry point for people into the site, and offer the opportunity for someone starting off to write.
- Someone doing some drafty/scouting/young players stuff. Plenty of draftniks around.
- Some more opinion. Obviously this is my specialty, but this is an area where the more the better. Get some debate going.
- I'd like some email columns between three or four "old heads" around here. Just bouncing ideas back and forth in a conversation that we post as an article.
- The Saintsblog B&F. This has been a baby of mine for a while. Five supporters who are at the game (we'll organise a roster) rate each player out of ten. This way we get a footy club style B&F, and perhaps we can present a prize to the winner.
- Perhaps some reminiscing pieces about the history of the club. I've only been regularly going to games since 2000 but I sure some of the old timers ;) around here could muse on the animal enclosure, or the walk from the station to Linton St (through that lane near the factories) or similar stuff. Would be great stuff to read as a newbie.
- A list specialist. No, I don't mean like Terry Wallace. No, someone who writes articles with lists in them. People love these. They are great ways to get big numbers of hits. I think my two most read articles on BigFootyNews were my lists of best teams not to win flags and when I rated the club songs.

Anyway, food for thought. I think Kildonian and I are pretty keen to get everything going for next season so we can hit the ground running.

I'm doing a part time sports media course next year so I'll be keen to contribute.
If you're looking for an upcoming round preview with match ups, maybe a player spotlight and a look back at an awesome game with who ever we are playing I'd love to do something like that. Just a rough idea.

I'm not good at writing but am good at research, so if there are media articles/ interviews that are around that you want to get into the blog, I can assist.

OK, I'm bumping this again.

It's almost February, and I'd like to get some stuff going.

On the topic of a Saintsblog B&F, can we have some volunteers? At the first instance, you must be available to attend games, and must be happy to rate every player out of 10.

Any people happy to put their hands up?

I'm happy to give it a shot. I can't guarantee the quality or frequency but I reckon I could help out a bit.

I will be there. Are you looking for general write ups of the game or focusing on certain aspects?
