One of my nephews and his wife are obsessed with it but it seems to work ok for them and he loves a good wine having been used to only the best. He is monitored by the Melbourne club doctor I think and has actually dropped weight eating it. She was always a stunner and still looks great so who knows. I couldn’t do it for a variety of reasons including it’s as strict as any other diet I’ve seen. Stick to a good old Mediterranean diet and exercise and you can’t go far wrong Imo.

I liked how my doctor put it.
He said "there is meat and protein. there are vegetables which you need for vitamins.
Then there are carbs, pasta, potato, rice....its just filler ".
He pointed at me , specifically my waistline. "You don't need filler "

Simple rule of thumb try to reduce the carbs. Was doing ok until Mr Meat and Potato/Pasta moved in.

I'm trying to eat well at the moment, I put on about 6 kgs over lockdowns and want to get it off. I must do a lot of incidental exercise or something when we are open because I didn't change much....well actually I drank a lot more so maybe that was it.

Anyway, I'm eating mostly fresh fruit and vegetables and less carbs and cheese, butter etc. Haven't had enough time to see if it works yet but it makes eating less appealing.

Incidental exercise is a big part of it. I don’t eat great but I workout a fair bit. That + being on my feet for work must have just equalled my caloric intake. Cause right now working out the same amount and eating just as bad is adding on the kilos

Talking about Saints cooking - Roo is on Celebrity MasterChef looking to win for Maddies Vision.

Apple cider braised pork belly - takes ages but worth it!

I use this recipe but skip the gratin and roast carrots, serving the piggy and all the vegetables as is (it's enough food)

This marketing guy we know is a massive flog and on Keto, he's one of those lycra bike knobs that talk about himself incessantly. He looks super fit and it seems to work but he's brings things like inedible biscuits made of what seems to be plastic to eat with cheese and stuff to dinner at our place and eats protein only and leaves anything else like a child. I can never do Keto in case I become him. That said, this guy has the best collection of wine ever and eating his sh*t keto gets me access so I can't wait until we open up again.

Ketotards are the worst.

Carbs are fine, 4 cals per gram. You lose weight on a low carb diet because you are in a caloric deficit..because you've just eliminated 1/3 of your macronutrients.

What if I eat an equivalent amount of calories in carbs to make up for the protein and fats I’ve stripped back
If strictly weight loss is you goal you need to be in a caloric deficit. Also, balancing your macros has other benefits.

There are many schools of thought. A very simplistic view to balancing macros whilst reducing calories/losing weight is:

- Establish your daily maintainable calories (eg 2500)
- Reduce calories by 10-20% (eg 500 calories at 20% reduction)
- Consume protein at at least 2 x your body weight (eg you weigh 80ks, therefore consume 160 grams of protein)
- Consume fats at 0.5 x your body weight (eg you 80kg, therefore consume 40 grams of fats
- So far you are consuming 640 calories of protein & 360 calories of fats, therefore you have 1000 calories remaining towards carbs, or 250 grams of carbs you can consume.

TLDR
You weight 80kgs; your daily caloric deficit consumption is 2000 calories; protein - 640 calories; fats - 360 calories; & carbs - 1000 calories.

That’s a very simplistic example. I would up the protein because I do a lot of resistance training. Carbs better for cardio based exercise.

Yep. Pretty similar to how my PT got me down 10kg last year. Luckily for me I’ve got all the numbers written down so when I decide to shed these kilos again I can just go off the notes.

Has anyone seen Nick R stand next to Ian Thorpe on masterchef. Nick is meant to be 3 cms shorter but he is noticeably taller

This goes ok... I substitute the KFC for poached or BBQ chook and just use frozen veg. But the KFC/any fried chicken slaps.

I've stood next to Rooey multiple times and he always seemed much taller than me at 191cm. He's meant to be 193 but looks much more than 2cm taller. I've been close to JRoo too and he seems closer to my height but listed as 2cm taller than Nick. It must be an optical illusion. He was meant to have the worst skin folds at club too but looked cut.....and still looks at playing level fitness.

Jason Blake was only meant to be 189 , he must have had no neck and gorilla arms.
Maybe Nick has a smaller head than Jack.

Nobody likes a liar, next time take the 1 off the beginning of that number little man

This adds some interest to your upcoming boxing match, with gringo2011 being 15cm+ taller than you! Didn’t stop Iron Mike bby
Look I know depth perception is hard when you're only 2'6'', but you don't need to announce your inadequacies to the world there chief. I'm 9'6'' with biceps made from pure titanium. I know it's hard to fathom from all the way down there.
