We're playing the Bulldogs in Tassie on Aug 24. Anyone going? I booked my and Mrs Winmar's flights tonight! :)

Did anyone go to the last one there, v Port? Do I need to book tickets to the game ahead, or can I just rock up on the day?

Btw, Virgin Blue currently have a sale, which ends tonight. If you want to go with them, I suggest you book promptly...... We're flying return for $117 each.

If you want to actually sit in the grandstands or have an actual seat I would most definately book a ticket. If not you should beable to buy general admission tickets on the day!

Thanks for that, Carly. I'm happy to stand, but my 79yo grandpa who lives near Launceston would definitely prefer to sit. I might get him to book tickets. How much are they likely to cost?

I know Tassie love their footy, but I couldn't imagine they are selling too fast.

The Bulldogs and the Saints for that matter are not reknown as big crowd-pulling teams. On top of that - their medicore seasons (especially the doggies) wouldn't help in attracting the general afl fan that isn't directly a supporter of the two clubs playing.

P.S to Winmar:- All prices for the ground are listed on this page.

A group of us travelled down for the first game and had a great time. The fact we were playing Port Adelaide meant we knew we weren't going to win when we booked the tickets so even the result didn't really disappoint us.

We booked our tickets through the club and that's probably the best option. Port only had a couple of hundred supporters and it was only 300 off the record crowd so I'd definitely book ahead. Chances are you may be able to buy a ticket on the day but why risk it when you are travelling all the way there. I think RzrBlade is underestimating the support St Kilda have in Tasmania, the ground was a sea of red, white and black and you'd be mad not to pre-book your ticket.

Have a great time, wish I could go again.

Thanks guys! I think I'll book tickets soon. Some of those tickets are expensive!

It should be fun. I'm going down there for five days to see the oldies, and take my wife to Tassie for the first time. Here's hoping we win!

Well you obviously dont know much about all this Rzr blade.
St Kilda and the bulldogs and hawthorn
have the biggest supporter bases in Tassie. I think you'll find the crowd will be almost a record high. Infact I think ther'll be a bigger crowd at this game than at the eagles or port game! If you want a decent seat and dont want to have to stand then Id book ahead!

I guess I will just have to hold you to that and we will have to see how close to the record crowd this match is.

One thing your definately right about is the Saints supporter base in Tassie, the majority of my mates in Tassie go for St.Kilda for some strange reason, then after that a lot go for Collingwood. *shudder*

Didn't notice much correlation towards a big doggies supporter base in Tassie though.

Only 15, 637 turned up. It was wet, so it is understandable that the crowd was down. But it was not packed out in the end like you said it would be ;)

Also in interest, did you still go to the game Winmar? Was the seating you got good? Also did you enjoy the flogging you dished out to the Doggies???

Yep indeed I made it down there, RazrBlade. :) The seating I got was very good. I was under cover, thank god! It's a long time since I have been that cold at the footy though. Every other day I was down there for it was really nice, but Sunday was horrible. I went to training there on Saturday and the weather was perfect. If it had been like that the place would have been packed out. As it was, the crowd was very good.

Yeah I did enjoy the flogging we dished out. :) They had the wood over us in the 90s, so it's nice to beat them now! It's a shame the weather was so bad....it brought the standard down a bit. It's good practice for playing in the wet though, for we don't have many chances to do so, with Docklands as our home ground.
