A couple of thoughts:
1. Nas, De Koning, Tauru, King and Philipou will be a very marketable group and should allow us to sell a lot of memberships.

2. Interesting that we added an 8th year late. Surely his decision was already made. I do wonder if the club added the additional year to smooth out some of the contract on the back of the NAS situation.

Add eight years to his current age to get his age at the end of the contract.

So this means Dodson is not going to be a St Kilda player for the majority of his career, unless we move TDK out for peanuts and pay a significant chunk of his salary ala Grundy. Don't think Dod will want to hang around playing second fiddle until he's 27. We also either have to trade Marshall this season for a late first rounder or we won't get better than a third for him after he's relegated to a backup ruck who kicks 20 goals a year. Players like Windy will also be squeezed out due to salary cap pressure.

I really hope I'm wrong, but this seems like a monumentally stupid decision. The worst since McCartin.

I think it will be perfect timing when Marshall is ready to retire Dodson will be ready to step up and team up with TDK.

TDK has shown that he is not effective at all playing forward. So he needs to be rucking for 70ish% of the game to be effective. Do we think Dodson will be happy to bide his time as second fiddle until 2034?

I think Dodson's timeline aligns perfectly with Marshall. Ro probably has two elite years left and then another couple of serviceable years where he could spend a bit more time forward while Dod is phased in as the main man. Dodson will not wait 9 years to be a starting ruck

Cmon MSG ... think outside the box a bit

If the sub rule gets the boot and the bench goes to 5 or 6 then we can play both Marshall & TDK in the same team ... you dont even have to rest them forward .... just switch them across ruck duties ... every now and then give them a week off to keep them fresh .... if one gets injured then we still have one very good ruck fall back and arent reliant on Heath or a very young Dodson

Marshall has 2 years left on his contract ..... if he leaves after that then Dodson will be 22 and should be ready to step up to fill his void

Forget about what we are paying TDK .... his contract will be front loaded ... therefore after 2 or so years we will be paying him less than what it averages out per year of his contract

Also in the next few years a few well paid players will come off the books ... Steele Hill Wood Marshall Macrae Howard and maybe Sincs

If we want to retain Nasiah in 2 years time we have to show improvement/ play finals therefore we have to improve our squad now ..... not in 3 years time
