Pou is not your high possesion midfielder. He’s is a high impact player who plays across forward line and midfield, someone who can win his 1 on 1s and kick 2-3 goals in a burst.. target to be a Patracca or Rayner maybe, he does need to work on his stoppage / clearance work though if he wants to play more midfield

No.

Three games out of his 44 he has kicked multiple goals.

2 goals x 2
3 goals x1

Five games out of 44 he has cracked 20 disposals

Career averages

Season 1 - 12.7 disposals 0.3 goals
Season 2 - 14.4 and 0.6
Season 3 - 8.6 and 0.6

High impact is a stretch. Not much of a mid, not much of a forward, never played defence.

You're right of course.

And he is clearly the finished product.............

FFS the guy is not yet 21. Jaysus. Had injuries. Some people are tough task masters. F*** me.

Hope he comes on. If he were a race horse, he'd be a 10 start, 40-1 maiden winner trying to win a group two.

When he was last fully match-fit and played in the midfield, he delivered four consecutive games with 20+ possessions and chipped in with goals.

Yes, it’s fair to look at the overall picture, but it’s equally fair to dig into the context if you want the full story:

  1. He hasn’t had another run in the midfield since that stretch.
  2. He hasn’t been genuinely match-fit at any point since 2024.
  3. Before that breakout, he was primarily deployed as a forward.

Cherry picking a small sample. Overall it's grim.

Training 19/11/25 New
Went down and had look today. Few observations.

About 25 on the track, few in rehab no sign of Max.

  1. Key Takeaways: Boys look a lot bigger, Nas easy 2-3kg, Wilson 5kg, Pou looks like a Man now, Hammer has veins coming out of everywhere 3-5kg for him also.
  2. Skills looked pretty sharp especially in close. They did a boundary line drill with Harves and Lenny taking it, and it was all very slick and clean.
  3. Flanders ran laps for most of the session from what i saw, assuming because of his back issues last season they have him on a modified program.
  4. Wilson looks set for a big year, was very impressive in one on one ball up drill, manhandled Garcia a few times. Harves giving him a lot of praise for his positioning and also mentioned his arms, can't underestimate just how big he has gotten which should give him huge confidence going inside. He was also leading the pack in the running drill, with Pou not far behind.
  5. Moving on from Steele was the right call, considering the young bulls wanting to step up. Pou, Boxhall, Garcia, Wilson and others, all will warrant time in there next year. having Steele in the 2nds would've just been awkward for everyone.

Quick sharp session i was only there for an hour it looked like they were wrapping it up when i left.

Will be interesting next year how we replace Steeles heavy lifting. Does windhager take that role? Boxshall can do it but only be his second year. We don't have many bulls but then again maybe it's a good thing, we can change the dynamic and get a bit more pace and skill in there.

While it is only preseason, Wilson is looking set for a very strong third season. He's apparently massive but still has his incredible endurance at high-speed. Excited to see the midfield group for next season.

Good report. I was there early for a little while. Max was doing some running drills when I arrived but went inside after about ten minutes.
Clark and Hastie just doing running.
Not much to take away from it other than we’re going to win the flag.
I also made sure to put my coffee cup in a bin.

Based on any facts? Seen nothing but embelishment based on little.
There are no "facts" when projecting into the future. It's entirely opinion. We should also all know by now that stats in footy are inadequate on their own to judge quality of player.

Saying you've seen nothing, that's actually insane to me. You've seen nothing? Nothing at all? You haven't seen a single attribute that has looked promising at all? You don't think maybe you're exaggerating?

Career averages

Sharman - 80.44 = 65%

Caminiti - 38.20 = 65%

Owens - 74.48 = 60%

Jeremy Cameron's career accuracy is around 64%, fwiw.

If Owens was a better set shot (same accuracy as the other two) then he'd have a huge 5 more goals across his entire career - slightly more than 1 per year. Huge difference.

And your opinion is based on fact? That what you're saying? If all you've seen is embellishment you haven't been watching him. He's not even 21 FFS. They're not robots and developing consistency is not a fixed curve. He's shown heaps of promise. That game against Sydney (1 Brownlow vote, a game high 10 score involvements - five in the final term, team-high five clearances, 26 disposals and a goal). He was 19 and a half. That was round 17, 2024. 2025 scuppered by injury.
But yep, grim.. Heaps of other highlights and flashes of something special. Loads to look forward to with Mattaes. Has only scratched the surface.

I wanted another bollocks. :(

Odds on there won't be the need for the heavy lifting with changing ruck rules and TDK getting 1st touches. The game's changed quickly to wanting jets in the centre square.
