What a performance. Not sure how we held on but it was an incredible effort from everyone.

- To add onto the Windy praise - he spent all week preparing to play on Smith, including spending a large portion of match sim on Thursday with the backline to prepare to follow him around. So for him to pivot on the day of the game to a different player with a full-time midfield presence and then play one his best individual games is such a testament to him as a player.

- Credit to Collard. Like most, I didnt understand his selection but he played well. His effort and workmate was there which is something we've all questioned. Once he can put on some size, he could be a real weapon.

- Owens makes such a difference. He's so tough. Those efforts bring every other forward into the game.

- Also Jones. Fantastic game. That's why senior players deserve the chance to respond to a woeful performance. Now let's back it up.

- We are a better team when Marshall is in the ruck. He might not win hit outs but you can't replace what he brings around the ground.

- Give Nas whatever he wants. Just get the signature.

- Sinclair is a star. He's getting his AA blazer back.

- MacLobster is one of the best bits of recruiting we've done in years.

Could list so many more positives but I'll leave it there and enjoy the replay instead.

I would love to see a forward line of the following line up one night this year:

HFF Henry King Collard

FF Higgins Owens Keeler

King getting up the ground and marking on the wing. Owens playing a Gehrig type lead, crash and bash style deep forward role. Keeler chopping out in the ruck and floating into contests. And the smalls providing pressure, goal sense, and skill. Would be a very fun set up

Loved Irish’s attack on the ball - I think there was one part in the third quarter where he just went harder than Cameron and we took the spillage

A few times late he did little 1%ers that don't show up on the stats sheet but were important in holding back Geelong's relentless attacks. I couldn't hear properly but think Macrae called his mark "Leo Barryesque".

Marshall showed again past night he is an absolute jet as a RUCK only. Just about the best in the comp.

We don't need TDK. Will only ruin the next 3 years of one of our only elite players. The Dees have proven 2 gun rucks doesn't work.

Back Dodson in as long term replacement. Throw 2.2m+ at LDU. If he doesn't accept then come up with plan B,C,D. Frontload some contracts whatever we need to do to have a crack at free agency again the next 2 years.

Even if TDK is a gun, Marshall is better! We need him to play 90% gametime in the ruck.

I see Liam O'Connell as a Jason Blake type player. A solid role player.

I think that's underselling him a bit. Looked really good in both preseason games. I think he kicked 2 goals in both of those matches from a wing. Reminded me of a younger Mason Wood. Actually he moves a bit like looks like a less blond Lewis Roberts-Thompson.

Also, Wilson is going to be absolutely elite. Get him at centre clearances around McRae.

His burst of speed is just an absolute weapon.

By the end of this year I hope to see McRae, Wilson and Pou as our first options in the centre with Steele being our 4th best.

Henry and Hill can cover the wings.

Yeah good point. Dermis actually mentioned in the commentary he was liking how O'Connell was putting his body into good positions blocking space and players in the final mad last few minutes.

Owens courage to back into packs after returning from injury where he hurt his shoulder being pushed into from behind is amazing. Most guys would turn or take their eye off it but he had no hesitation to put his body on the line. Same with Stocker, you only need a couple of guys to do it until it becomes contagious

The only think about TDK is that he's able to play as a proper forward unlike Marshall. Could extend his career not smashing him.

Assuming Garcia comes into the 22 for Clark. Leaves a role available for someone to come in from Sandringham today, into next week's 22, and one person to come in as the sub. You'd assume Sharman also comes straight back in.
Honestly if Boxshall plays well today he could be straight in and Garcia remains sub

If he ends up at Blakey's level, then that'll be a huge win for our development team. Very underrated was Blake. One of the most reliable players to put in the jumper.

He had a bit of a less spectacular match but all of his traits look like he should be absolutely special. The pace and sustained end to end running are going to be a weapon. Garcia and Boxshall look promising and Jackal reckons that Said has as much promise as those two. Decent spread of midfield depth coming through. Still have Dow, Jones and Clark as depth.

Keeler struggled a bit but you could tell he was super nervous and I reckon that played out with his cramping as well.

Was awesome to see the guys get around him when he kicked that goal

Will be better for the run.

He got physically bullied at times, just like Phillipou did in the 2023 final. Hopefully that ignites a flame underneath him and he works his arse off getting the physical strength needed to play the game at the top level. The joy the other players displayed when he kicked the goal shows he is a popular kid. His post game interview was gold, what a lovely kid and was just so excited with the win and getting a game.

He is more of a slow burn than most would like, but I said it from day one he will become a star if he applies himself.

The other is Collard who progressed quite a bit from last year, he still needs to work on his contested game which will come as he gets stronger, but gee he knows how to sniff out a goal. On the downside his opponent Humphries had a night out and I cant recall Collard pressuring him on too many occasions.

The other who hasnt been mentioned is Max Hall who didnt star but gees he did a lot of important stuff pressuring and playing the link role. We have found another long term player in Max.

Collard definitely showed something. Really dangerous around the ball, you can see why they're persisting with him if he gets going he could be a nightmare for the opposition.

Funnily enough mate, I likened him to LRT to a mate the other day.
