Can’t see any world where Jimmy doesn’t get another year. And hopefully 2 more. As mentioned in here we don’t have any real like for like replacements. Not many tougher (maybe stocker) and he’s good reasonable speed. Maybe Hastie eventually but at this stage doesn’t have the physicality
Its been reported already that we're set to give Web a short term extension (probably one year)

Super well deserved - hes always been great for us when available. Really missed him at the start of last year

Role has been pretty consistent over the past few years - outputs have remained very solid.

Doesn't miss a lot of games - I'd be disappointed if he wasn't a 1+1 contract.

That perception is so far from reality. How anyone could come to that conclusion is beyond me.

Carlton have been absolutely elite in their diabolical incompetence over the past 25 years, both administratively and on the field.

Being a so-called "big club" doesn't grant them any right to claim superiority.

Perception trumps reality. It doesn't have to be true, just has to be seen as true by enough people. Carlton have been diabolical for ages apart from a small window of good performance. We have been good and bad in equal measure and being a young side we don't seem too be good at consistency.

I think we have been at our best hitting sides that underestimated us. It looks like the Dogs and Lions tried to undo our strengths and we stalled.

I’m sure they’ll be good players but will they be 25 contested possessions and 14 clearances in a game good? Fingers crossed. We haven’t had a midfielder like this since the glory days I just don’t want it to end.

Not even Macrae is going to do that every week. We need quality on ball players and a bit of quality depth. Our list is the best it's been in years with heaps of development left in it. Investing time into our youth will be a massive benefit in a few years.

Funny watching LDU turn into an absolute spud this year. Sometimes the best plan is to develop your own.

There has been some good foundations laid through our midfield drafting in recent years.

Owen’s, Pou, Garcia, Boxshall, Travaglia, Nas, Hall all show they can contribute to a rotation. Henry is in this younger mix as well if we ignore his lack of effort so far this year.

I am not sold on Wilson becoming a midfielder. I think he will be a hard running flanker and has shown glimpses of becoming a good one. Having a rough year this year though. He will be better for it.

Windhager and Garcia are both tracking like the good mids at the same age. Surely we get at least one of them make it and Phillipou looks like a special player.

Amazing what a winning midfield can do - Macrae is a beauty and Steele blanketing Brayshaw to me won us the game - we cut out there prime movers which put every other Fremantle player under the pump due to the fact we never really had any passengers yesterday - huge difference to the previous weeks.

Can we keep this up I don't know but if they play like that we should win a few more this year.

I have not seen a team get totally suffocated that in a long time - well done to the team.

I can remember back when Ross 1.0 took over we played a game against WC early in his tenure and at one point he put the clamps on it and they just couldn't find an inch. It had that vibe where we controlled the momentum of the game and set it up on our terms. It was the first time the announcers started cracking the shits about his negative game style because he took the oxygen out of the match. It's not attractive but it is impressive.

It's great really , but then again we won in the midfield yesterday - it will be good to see if they can keep it up. Macrae been massive but if they put the clamps on him we need another guy who can create - hopefully Phillipou fills that role.

It's when our midfield gets beaten - If Macrae can keep playing the way he is and Steele can take out the other teams most dangerous player and we get our other mids to actually get hold of the ball we will be tough to beat.
But as we saw against the Dogs lose in the middle and our game plan is blown apart, it just puts everyone else under more pressure.
Any what has happened to King , is his season written off already.

Ratts also used him for kick out duties! - he isn’t allowed anywhere near it under RTB - it’s not rocket science - maybe only your best kicks get that job.
Seriously if anyone wants to wander whether Ratts is on the same level as RTB watch the game v Adelaide Ratts coached where Doogs kicked it out to left half back about 20 times in a row only for it to get turned over and get sent back in.

Would be even more sweet if this could be Carlton fans next week.

It's harder to hate Freo fans.
I've never met a Freo fan, despite them being in the comp for 30 years.
But my WC supporting mate over here is always trying to get me to hate on them and their fans.
I'll hate on them more if they win a flag, I think.
Don't need them, Port, or the new teams getting to two before we do.

A couple more things

- as good as our defenders have played. In terms of dropping off, creating an extra number. Coming off their man.

Stock, Doug , web, Wilkie , etc.
no surprise as the experience comes back this improves.

Things I love atm

  • I could be wrong but the tackling improved out of sight.
  • I love lancey. He’s playing at about 5% of what he can be but every game he just shows some class. He’ll break out one of these games.

Pumping games into young guys

- maxy hall, windy , lance, LOC , Wilson Hugo just get them all all to 50/100 games asap

- we are a much better team when Chito gets up the ground. I don’t care what the coaches say, his impact around the ball and at stoppage is real.

cooper break out.

I still think his hand injury took some confidence from him. Almost every highlight on the afl website had him in it.

Lance was missing so many tackles in his first couple of games. Without any stats he stuck almost every single one of his tackles at the weekend and looked super lively. Agree, just have to keep pumping games into guys like him especially when the team is performing

I'm from Perth, Freo fans are pretty similar to us. A touch of pessimistic humour, they enjoy the game but don't make it a part of their personality.

West Coast fans on the other hand...they're a seriously strange bunch, I probably dislike them the most out of any code. Their fans are insufferable, snobby and entitled.

I know he won’t do it every week, it’s the fact that he can do it at all. Normally takes our mids three weeks to get those kind of numbers. Sounds like the only knock on Boxshall was his questionable disposal so hopefully he’s the guy but we’ll need more.

I might be the only one left but Caminiti is a forward to me. His decision making and disposal is too awful to be played in the backline. I don’t mind it as a break in case of emergency when we need the extra height but I’m much more comfortable with the ball in his hands as a forward.

I thought he's been pretty good in the backline, charging through and pretty measured when looking to give off with the hands.

His defending has been ok but his ball use was getting worse and worse.

He just needs time in the backline. Ball use is quite different up forward vs down back. He definitely has the attributes to be a good backman so now just needs to learn the nuances

Instruction from the coaches for him is probably just to always go down the line and never be too cute

Hundred per cent also.

It’s what separates teams like Carlton
North
WC

Is being in kids whilst your remaining competitive and winning as oppose to when your down the bottom and needing picks.

It’s why imo. Winning against Carlton is better than losing for a pick. Young guys learn how to win and have the support of older leaders like

Steele
Sincs
Wilkie
McRae
Wood

Your correct Gringo no way he can do that every week and hopefully Steele can get his mojo back and play like he did yesterday with a few of the young guys capturing form to keep us competitive in the midfield.
We are all hoping Phillipou will help us in this area and if he produces the goods our midfield will go up another gear.

So, basically West Coast answers = Bombers fans?
