Are all your sources that detailed Frodo?

I was very pleased when the saints entered a stand alone resreves team in the VFL this year. It appeared that we were going to do the same again next year but Football Manager Brian Waldron has recently recommended to the board that we come to an arrangement with Springvale.

If arrangments between the two clubs are made, that would leave Essendon, Carlton and Geelong as the only teams fielding stand alone sides in the revamped VFL competition.

My sources - The Herald-Sun, The Age and the St Kilda Football Club.

Tiger of Old,

You seem to be clutching a straws by drawing a comparison between our recruiting and decision to enter a partnership with the scorpians. If that was the case, I would be entitled to think that Richmond's decision to enter a partnership with Coburg was because of the $600 000 trading loss made by your team this year.

Sainter,

The Kangaroos are also a stand alone team, they have just changed their name to the Murray Kangaroos and just use top up players from the surrounding Murray Oven leagues.

Aussie_Roo,

You're right, I should have said teams that had not made arrangments with an existing VFL club or country league.

Technically, the only team to officially amalgamate were Hawthorn and Box Hill to form the Box Hill Hawks. All the others just lent their reserves players to their respective VFL partners.

Point taken Frodo. It's just the way you worded the topic seemed to imply that we were in some sort of trouble which is far from the case. I wouldn't expect that you would get much news on the VFL over there.

maybe i was clutching at straws a tad there sainter but i have to ask u why would the saints explore going with springvale at this late stage? its a known fact that blight dosent come cheaply and niether did gehrig and hamill etc if u consider who u delisted etc surely the burden of paying these amounts would have a huge impact on the club and it does cost stand alone clubs in the vfl a hell of a lot more than combined clubs just tp put them on the field.
as far as the tiges going with coburg we have stated all along that going alone is our prefered option but not viable money wise and id say our lose this year quickened the option of teaming up with another vfl club.
cheers!
