Only six days away!

It only seems to be a few weeks since they destroyed us on the same deck.

We are probably fighting for our season here. Macrae should be back, does Stocker come straight in?

This will be a stronger side than last time we played them. It goes against my better judgement but can't help but feel we are a sniff here.

We rarely seem to play well against the Dogs so hopefully we can turn that around like we did with Port and Melbourne.

Getting Macrae and Stocker make instantly makes us stronger.

Unsure of who goes out - maybe Phillipou depending how he's recovered? Carroll did some nice things but was sub which suggests a chance to go out. I dont want to drop both Trav and Boxshall but those 2 ins have to come in. Is Jones in trouble purely on an age balance in the midfield?

And congrats on 200 games for Sinclair.

On the 200 gamer...

Sinclair is only the second player we've recruited since the Grand Finals to play 200 games for the club. The other is Seb Ross. It's a huge achievement considering he was a rookie pick at 19 years old.

Also, our list of two time All-Australians isn't exactly lengthy either. Two B&Fs as well.

Multiple B&F winners in the 21st century: Riewoldt (6), Steven (4), Hayes (3), Ross (2), S Fisher (2), Steele (2), Sinclair (2).

Multiple AA winners (modern award established 1991): Lockett, Loewe, Winmar, Burke, Harvey, A Jones, Everitt, Hayes, Dal Santo, Montagna, Goddard, Riewoldt, Milne, Steele, Sinclair.

On the match, it would have been nicer IMO if the Doggies had won last night. I think Macrae and Stocker come in. Pou's calf is a variable (I'd rest him), and someone from the defensive group is coming out for Stock.

I don't think there's any way Pou gets up. Definitely pinged a calf and will need a few weeks.

I liked Carroll's game, hope he stays.

I’m getting Thursday night PTSD from last year, thinking about this match.

The Hawks gave us a blue-print of how to play them. They took away our game last time. We need to do it back to them. Hawks tackled and pressured them at every opportunity.

The Dogs like to flick it around but going one on one and tackling constantly will wi you the ball back.

To me our best chance at a win is through our increased fire power. Butler and Keeler having good games means that they'll need to use extra defensive strategy that they didn't need last time. They could run off us.

Unlikely we win but we can keep it respectable through planning at a minimum.

Ironically that is how we took out the dockers a couple of weeks later, so we can apply that.

They’ll monster us again we struggle with their flick outside game plan and run

Honestly this is good in my book. Too often teams come off the bye slow and reactive. Need enough time to give them good rest but I think continuity is better overall.

This is one of the reasons why there should be a single bye week for all teams.

Think you’re right.
We had momentum from a win, would be nice to carry it on.

I'd have Jones ahead of Box and Carroll after the Melbourne game. While the latter two did some nice things, Jones had as many disposals as the two of them combined. He also adds a bit of speed to the midfield mix compared to the slow Steele, Macrae and Clark.

I think we need to keep pumping experience into Travaglia to get him up to speed - I'd keep him in as sub.

Macrae and Stocker for Box and Carroll, IMO. Personally I'd also bring LOC in for Byrnes but that's not going to happen.

A few here getting ahead. We played better against the Dees but were let off from their goal kicking inaccuracy.

I’m not expecting a win against the Dogs based on our recent form against them, but if we can show some real intent and pressure, I’ll be proud. We need to remember where our list and age profile is at.

I just checked the afl app.

52 tackles against them last time.
Hawks 82 on Thursday night.

20-6 centre clearance against them last time.
12-9 dogs way against hawks.

We need to pressure, STICK our tackles, and not get absolutely smashed in the centre clearances..for a start 🤣

I've never been a fan of Stocker, but his toughness at times this year has been handy.

Have an interesting stat.
Of the 23 players that played over the last weekend.
Nasiah Wanganeen Milera comes 12th in DE% at 69.8 for the season.

In comparison, Jones is 74.7 & Byrnes 72.9. These two regularly, get criticized for their kicking.

Yes ok, NAS gets the pill more than most, so not an entirely accurate assessment.
But, I wonder how many of his kicks are goal assist turnovers, ive seen a few this year.

Nas averages 619 meters gained per game. Byrnes is at 281 and Jones at 190. Nas is taking the game on, gaining ground and going for high-risk, high-reward kicks. The other two just have to get it to someone who can kick
