Okay, but what if it goes the other way? What if Wright's efficiency improves with more composure at the top level? He might not ever get to Billings' level in that regard, but then again, I can't see Jack ever terrifying opposition like Wright could.

Like Saunders I wish it would happen but seriously doubt it

I know for a fact that Boyd is on $1.5 million for 2016 and 2017, then it reduces to a million a year. He was 'only' paid $300 K last year.

Peter Gordon is solely responsible for the deal that was done, another reason why a president should stay away from list management.

There are some very handy players in our sights, probably paying just north of $400k per year. JOM is obviously more than that, we can afford to overpay him to meet the salary cap floor, which the AFL requires, so we will see how that plays out.
NB: Everybody chill if we do pay JOM massive money, it's all relative to the cap.
I think we should all just wait & see if JOM can be heavily tackled & fall directly onto the problem knee before we even consider him.

Watching the highlights of all his involvements in play across his 2 NEAFL games so far, he did not once allow himself anywhere near heavy contact & when he was tackled, he fell to the ground with the momentum of the tackle & did his utmost to not land that knee anywhere near the turf & instead tried to land on his side or onto the good knee

I'm really hoping everyone is right and Billy can turn it around - I'm certainly not advocating trading the bloke, mainly because I don't think he would get us a good enough return for what he might be worth (cough Seb Ross)

But he is 23 and struggling in the VFL, even if it is a result of shoulder problems.

Hope we see him back out on the park soon.

I think he'd still fetch a great pick. If Shaun Hampson can fetch pick 32, Ben McEvoy fetch pick 18 + a fringe player (Savage).... Billy on potential is easily worth the same as McEvoy & I think most clubs would be forgiving of his form knowing he's coming off a shoulder reco & heavy concussion, but would still want to see some real improvement at VFL level for the rest of the year. Billy's ruck work last year was better than anything i've ever seen McEvoy do, both for us or Hawthorn

Now, having said that, I would like us to keep Billy & reassess things at the end of next year.

They cancelled that pick out by paying Boyd squillions. Mark my words, unless they can move Boyd on, which they would dearly love to do, they won't be winning a flag anytime soon.
His $1.5 million wage could be turned into three elite midfielders.

If I was a Bulldogs member I would be absolutely ropeable about that decision - paying huge coin to a very untried player. For all he denies any involvement, I think it comes down to the ego of Peter Gordon getting involved where he shouldn't and really smacks of complete mismanagement of a list.

I think I remember that the Saints were initially also interested in Boyd, but once the price tag became ridiculous they backed off. Thank goodness for sane heads!

Never said he was a spud I said he had skill was a finisher and a mummy's boy? He just doesn't have the killer instinct IMO

I've seen plenty of players win less contested ball and lay less tackles than Billings.
If he ends up soft like Bryce Gibbs, i don't give a rat's. ( as long as he doesn't run in fear from small forwards ).

I wonder how they will cope when Stringer starts asking for a pay rise.

And Plugger I know you know what obtuse means because you drink in Bentleigh, holiday in Bali and your favourite movie is Shawshank Redemption.

I drink in East Bentleigh or McKinnon and I'm off to Thailand in a couple of weeks and my favourite movie is the 1966 GF.

Gee some of the stuff that gets written about Joey is complete drivel these days. We're talking about a guy who had 17 contested possessions in a preliminary final (5 more than our next best) and then backed it up with 14 in the grannie, to go with 11 tackles. Had 150 tackles one season and has had 9 or more contested possessions in 5 of his 15 games this year, despite playing the offensive outside receiving role that those coaching him have asked him to play.

Joey has been very soft of late seems to be getting worse.
Has it occurred to you that he might be playing with an injury at the moment? Like a couple of years ago when he played most of the season with one and at times at least two injuries, including a chunk of it with a fracture or crack in one of his legs, that you don't usually hear about until later, if at all?

I really do wish Boyd was on 1.5 mill per year. But 6mill/7years is like half of that lol.

Also would love to get our hands on some of those 500k elite mids... Will Dusty come for 500k? Let's throw 500k at my boy Cripps?

Back on topic, After just watching the replay... loving Hickey's tap work, Membrey's goal kicking and Steven's everything. Expecting a much improved performance with the additions of the Jacks this week.
6 mill over 7 years for a 20 goal a year warrior, great move doggies

How many accounts is that for MOC now?

Quiet pathetic. Get a real life.

Even better, will be a poor mans ty vickery at best
I think he's definitely got it in him to reach a similar level to Tippett and like Tipett might actually end up playing mainly ruck, but there are massive doubts that he will be worth the millions he'll cost them before he gets to that level (which isn't even worth a mil a year, IMO- Tippett is meant to be on around $800K PA), so it's likely to be a poor investment, IMO.

At this time last year Joey had been one of our main clearance players. ( 6 clearances , 12 contested possessions, 10 tackles against Melbourne ).
Not sure what was behind the move to HBF. Maybe its to do with our younger players developing.
