Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

maybe we can all enter the twitter world- many famous or is that infamous saints supporters do that.......

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

Taking into account where this is occuring, Im finding this, "where to find a forum to talk about the saints" discussion confusing.

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

How about you all just take a break from forums?

It is surprising what you can do without the specter of continually pressing refresh to see the latest and greatest.

get some of your mental health back.

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

Hi

I post under the name "bigcarl" on Saintsational.

Anyone know what is going on with it? It's been down for days now and I'm missing the argy bargy.

I assume the guy who looks after it is away on holidays.

true but comfort and familiar are first thoughts

And the term : Big Footy" can bring horror stories- with many not realising mybe that there is a dedicated St Kilda section moderated seperatly? I assume that is the case? how open to ' trolling ' opposition supporters is this section?

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

Whilst the main BF board is full of posters with big opinions and little knowledge, obviously the people who post on this board when SS is down know there is a Saints specific site on BF.

Whilst there are some good posters on SS that I'd like over here, I'm happy that a seperate forum exists to service the whingers, whiners, and people who think there is only one opinion (theirs).

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

its always good to have a break from :footy:

Never (well, aside from a sabbatical I took after the forum was over-run by ... I was going to say trolls, but that would be rude to trolls ... guess I'll go with shitfacedfwitfilth).

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/106556/default.aspx

Ross Lyon said the late start caused by the grand final replay has caused some unusual circumstances. "It's got some unique challenges about it and the majority have come back in pretty good nick," he said. "There's probably five or six that we would prefer to be in better shape."

Medical room: Lyon estimated that about 14 players had post-season operations.

Who's burning: Lyon saved special praise for the defender when asked who had impressed in the brief pre-season to date. "I think they're all going quite well. Cripps is running really strongly for a first-year player," he said.

After the break: The club moves to its new Seaford facility in January after 46 years at Moorabbin. They will still occasionally train at their long-time home but most of the work will be done down the highway.

Telstra Community Camp: The Saints will throw themselves into their new community when they venture down to Frankston for their community camp on February 8.

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

Yea ive gotta agree with Squizzy on that one...

Cant wait for them to start training at Franga, cuts my trip in half to go watch training... Am i correct in saying that the Saints Shop is still going to be located at Moorabin though? Kinda seems ridiculous if i heard correctly.

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

Nah not at all, having a shop in the Moorabbing area lasting beyond the team moving is a good choice to then open or attach a second franchise in the Franskton area as it allows for effectively catering to old and new and the possibility of a then "history" store.

I also want to agree with Squiz's sentiments though, I get tired of logging in to see deadset imbeciles taking the opportunity to fling as much mud that the simple act of logging in to report them just gets tiresome, especially when there are various outlets on the forum for these imbeciles to then spout their nonsense (such as the main board) so I don't then have to read or report it. It's a testament to sainter and Kildonian (and of course the visiting mods who have helped out) that it's cleaned up as promptly as it is but it just disappoints me that with no less than 4 threads about us on the mainboard currently we still have a closed media thread because supposedly 4 wasn't enough for them to spew their rhetoric in.

Anyway, good to hear that cripps is making an immediate impact (well.. positive anyway) in his time at the club and that the tiem frame to move into Frankston hasn't blown out or anything (which tends to happen quite often with such ventures in combination with city councils & state govs) more good news like that and things will be looking up again.

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

Yea a franchise store at the Frankston home is good idea, but when people are already going to be driving a fair way (its 40mins for me to get to Frankston) to watch training, i dont want to then travel another 20-30mins to go to the shop at Moorabin to buy my merchandise. I would have thought it would make much more sense to have the shop where they will be training and having open training sessions (haha we can wish).

I sometimes buy from the online shop, but they scam you with the postage if you buy multiple items, even though it can all be put into the one parcel. Sometimes when i go to the checkout the postage is twice the amount of the items i want to purchase...

Yeah I ultimately refuse to purchase fro online sites unless I have confirmation that they'll combine postage on items which can be shipped in the same package chiefly because online stores ultimately get their profits with the postage more than anything else.

from the seaford position I would see them as rarely holding open training there- CEO and other staff have repeatedly said they are keeping a presence at Moorabbin- as the lease requires- and will use it for open and closed sessions.
the parking and transport options at Linen House Centre would be prohibitive for a crowd I assume,

merchandise, marketing and Museum remain at moorabbin- hopefully they can now spread a little and improve what is still there- I beleive plans have been lodged for renovation to include several other organisations

But this discussion really belongs in other threads..

BTW Facebook still down to- I wonder if the hackers have got them too:)

what happens if you try doing it via the phone and asking for single postage?

Whats the point of this brand new fancy facility if the fans arent able to enjoy it by having open trainings at Moorabin. I would assume Franga would have better parking, as Moorabin only had street parking.

Facebook works on your IPhone :thumbsu:

It's a TRAINING facility - not a viewing facility

and to get facebook on I phone first you would need an I phone :)

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

So does anyone know if anyone is on the case to SS?
Or is everyone down at the beach?

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

There is room for all types of forums on the internet for the Saints.

SS is argy bargy with some real know all's and petty infighting, however remember the forum members sponsored 5 players last season which is a great effort for the club.

This forum is more football related and i come here during the season to get some decent discussion on the Saints. Not always in agreement with the views but it isn't infantile abuse.

If you want good family Saints info Andrew's Facebook page, Saints Footy is pretty good. No trolls, no petty abuse, but ruled with an iron fist by the moderator who has banned good people just because they disagreed with his view.

Name your poison, but they all have their place.

Re: Saintsational Hacked Again

I certainly like the Saintsational forum. It is one of the largest independent fan sites of any club and one of the most durable (apart from minor glitches like currently being experienced). There is a loyal but reactive fan base there (to the club, to the players, and to the website) that creates a different atmosphere than here. It is more fanatical and emotional at times and can be torture to read for those not so reactive to the transitory fragments of bad news which seems to be attracted to our club, but it is great that this resource is out there for us.

I think that most Saintsational members are also quite pleased that we exist too (BigFooty Saints board). We act as a resource for Sainsational members who are quite insular in their own site, only rarely having to deal with opposition fans. We help represent the club against the heathen horde knocking at our door, those that are eager to grasp any bit of unsavoury news or bad luck that comes our way. Some of us are known to give a little back at times too.

No-one more than you, Kildonan.

Your moderating style is exactly what it should be..moderate; which keeps this place on an even keel and prevents the flame-wars seen elsewhere.

You chose to lead by example, rather than 'rule' the St Kilda Forum....and you do a superb job in keeping the trolls at bay.:thumbsu:

Well done to you, sir...and I wish you (and all Saints)all the very best for the New Year.

so what is the forensic profile of a good Moderator?
