Sorry but that just isn't possible. All the evidence that ASADA gave the AFL was given available in the report.

I'd say that Essendon is rebutting much of the "charges". The commission may or may not be listening. Obviously the AFL executive is acting as prosecution.

I really feel sorry for Vlad or Gillon if they run into Tania in a hallway today. Super fit lady and I'd love to see her kick one in the head like Trinity would.
Apart from the bits that didn't suit the AFL's agenda.....like Hird's side of the story.

There's be certain satisfaction in court, but it'd be better for everybody - including us - if we could get this sorted ASAP.

In the courts it'll drag into next year and possibly beyond. Yes Hird would be coaching us but how much longer can he be fighting this battle whilst trying to coach a side that might be nearing its window?

I think the view is if we have the sacrifice finals this year for it to be completely free of it, then it's the right option. It's hard to argue with that view.

Yes that probably includes Hirdy getting a suspension - but the alternative is him coaching next year with the weight of world (legally) on his shoulders anyway.

If we can be totally free of this come next year then it's an attractive option. I think the club actually recognises the potential of this group and don't want anything to jeopardise it over the next couple of years. What if we could win a flag? Of even two? That's what they're thinking about I believe.

Not surprisingly draft picks is a major sticking point. If they're going to do long term damage to us via draconian draft sanctions, then that could be the trigger to send us to battle legally.

If it was just a pick or two next year we'd probably take it - a couple of decent trades and we'll be back into the draft anyway.

I encourage everyone to read this muppet of a journalist twitter page.

Amazingly his original article is still on the Herald Sun website.

Did anyone buy a copy the Herald Sun today and did his article get printed? I hope not.
My favourite tweet last night was Katherine Bates, cyclist or something

@katherinelbates

Cheap shot about something she clearly knows SFA about

He's a believer and a chicken farmer. Enough said.

Ill buy anyone an Essendon membership next season if they can show footage of themselves egging the media pack waiting outside AFL house.
Nah not worth it, I would throw the eggs pass the reporters and hit the AFL house. I'm more than happy to step up to the plate and egg the media infront of Hird's house instead.

And Paul Roos (there was a newspaper article quote earlier in the thread quoting Roos)
Playing devils advocate here - and ill get flamed - but Hirds main problem I think is he DID involve himself - he was pretty close with Dank and Weapon and was across some of what they were doing (from text messages).

Not that he ever wanted anything illegal to happen - in fact he insisted the opposite - but I think he actually has a bit of an interest in the area of sport science (probably stemming from his own injuries), and thus was more intimently involved in it than other coaches, who leave it completely up to the doctors and fitness staff.

Yeah, classic case of a little knowledge can be very dangerous.

Does anyone believe that the AFL will ever bring charges against Evans, Robson, Hamilton, Dank or Robinson?
Doubtful. If they do it will be nothing more than ceremonial. It's an absolute joke. You would need to be blind to not see that by not charging everyone that they are deliberately maintaining focus on who they want to meet their agenda. If Dank and Robinson (and to a lesser extent Hamilton) were charged, the focus would not be on James Hird anywhere near as much.

What those obnoxious media puppets don't get about Essendon supporters is not that we want it to go to court to be cleared of all charges. We accept the club and officials are guilty of some things. What we want is for everything to be heard in a public and evidence based environment where the people hearing the matter are less likely to be biased and don't have conflicts of interests.

If Essendon cop a harsher penalty in court then it will be more likely because they deserve that and we'll know why. We can then move on knowing our club will fight for what's fair and are punished accordingly.

How you call that delusional is beyond me.

Anything useful on SEN this morning?
Useful? No.

Amusing? Well Patrick Smith tried to tell a caller it was not about taking sides. Right up there with his claim that no one believes Essendon set out to cheat.

They have been referring to it as a hearing for a long time now, and still were yesterday.

At the end of the day I believe you're right and that it is being referred to as a hearing in word only. It is actually a plea bargaining session and nothing more.
They've been referring to the charge sheet as a report for some time too. ;)

Couple of things about general comments made by several media people in the last week that made me lol.

1: The public turned on Hird after call from the mother, LMAO

2: The legal bills will cripple essendon if they fight it, this is a opinion but Im very confident more supporters will get behind the club with membership and donations, if the club fights these charges especially the stripping of points and suspension of Hird. Its too easy just change it to the "fight plan"
Nice :thumbsu:

We don't know at what level Hird was involved. Sending a few text messages asking for update on how things are going isn't overseeing the program, it's just requesting information. That doesn't make him responsible for the running of the program.
