There's be certain satisfaction in court, but it'd be better for everybody - including us - if we could get this sorted ASAP.
In the courts it'll drag into next year and possibly beyond. Yes Hird would be coaching us but how much longer can he be fighting this battle whilst trying to coach a side that might be nearing its window?
I think the view is if we have the sacrifice finals this year for it to be completely free of it, then it's the right option. It's hard to argue with that view.
Yes that probably includes Hirdy getting a suspension - but the alternative is him coaching next year with the weight of world (legally) on his shoulders anyway.
If we can be totally free of this come next year then it's an attractive option. I think the club actually recognises the potential of this group and don't want anything to jeopardise it over the next couple of years. What if we could win a flag? Of even two? That's what they're thinking about I believe.
Not surprisingly draft picks is a major sticking point. If they're going to do long term damage to us via draconian draft sanctions, then that could be the trigger to send us to battle legally.
If it was just a pick or two next year we'd probably take it - a couple of decent trades and we'll be back into the draft anyway.
