Danger's the only one who if they play very well, their contracts will increase. If KNights has a bumper year, he'll get a similar (maybe even less) contract. If Tippo has a bumper year, he'll probably still drop a bit.

Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
I reckon it would be more about the fringe benefits kind of stuff rather than just the cash, especially considering the tax bracket most players would find themselves in. Cars, fuel cards, holidays, dinners, phones, TAFE/uni fees, etc..
Would be almost impossible for the AFL to track most of this stuff.
I think its just a bit of misinformation from the club personally. Maybe Trigg means that we are up to a cap level that we are comfortable with atm and don't plan to spend over that. We did have to extend some contracts this year (e.g Walker) so that might affect our spending. The club would be trying to free up space for next year to keep some of our more expensive players (e.g Danger and Tippett). Also we might be trying to get Davis to lower his price if we are genuinely interested. Regardless, he will probably get picked up by one of the WA teams.
This was my read of it too.
The club (right or wrong) would have it's strategy in place in terms of player payments and retention - it's probably now too late to throw a Leon Davis, who would command an above average salary, into the mix.

Knights re-signed at the end of 2010, because there was the huge shitstorm about him leaving for Richmond when they went on a recruiting binge.Knighta is on a big deal, not sure on specifics, expires end of next year I think.
Noble said Adelaide also considered how much Davis might cost, noting it needed to leave some salary cap room to re-sign key players at the end of next year, including gun forward Kurt Tippett and midfield speedster Patrick Dangerfield.

There you have it people. No salary cap issues, just keeping room for player retension next year.
