Just wondering how Salim is doing in the SANFL. We dont get any coverage here in Alice Springs of the SANFL except the finals. He played well I though in last years finals for West and rated him BOG for Westies in the GF.

Is he playing well enough for the coaching staff to elevate him off the rookie list in replacement for Francou for the rest of the season so he can have a crack at the big time?

I think he would be a good addition to Port who is struggling a bit. Hopefully with Carr and Burgoyne back we should do better though.

Cheers

Scotty

I would've thought so. He should've been in while Josh was out IMO and when Peter got himself suspended there was another spot he could've had. There's no room for him now, they might promote him in round 18 or whenever the cut off is in case we get desperate in the finals, apart from that I can't see him being promoted this year. I think he's too old to stay on the rookie list next year and he's good enough to be on an AFL list somewhere.

If we actually cut the dead wood at the end of this year instead of saying, 'he's a good player to have developing in the SANFL' - for yet another year then he should get a promotion to the main list.

Really at the end of this year the following should be delisted (try trading them, but none would get any offers)

Schofield
Hardwick
Wakelin
Hall
Ackland
Champion

I'd rather Hassan on the list then another so-so player delisted/traded by another club.

These are Hassans year stats so far:

8 games, 141 Disposals, 28 marks, 8 Goals, 5 Best Players.

So hes been getting a lot of the ball and was named in the best players 5 times. There was another game ir emember where he completely tagged Matty Slade out of a game but didnt get in the best players when he should have.

Hes doing very very well.

As for whether he will be elevated....history shows that he may be elevated toward the end of the year for insurance. History also shows he wont be at the club next year.

I hope history doesnt repeat itself this year as i think Hassan would add somtehing to our midfield. He isnt overly polished, but he gets the hard ball and has a mean streak that we are missing.

Strong rumour going around the club that Francou will pull on his boots this year - maybe that's got something to do with Salim not getting a spot. He certainly has featured in West's best players regularly.

Can't you elevate a rookie and then 'demote' them again ? I'm sure I've seen Essendon do that a couple of times. And if he does or doesn't cut it whilst elevated then that makes the decision whether to elevate to the main list at the end of the year all the easier.

Yes. We can also put Matty on the injury list and I think that because Gav is a veteran in the list of 38 we can promote someone without an injury but I haven't really worked out what that rule means.
