He’s nailed the 2020 draft - I like every pick

he’s failed in building an AFL level midfield for time being though , we are worst midfield in comp by plenty
I think that it's a sign of where we are in the rebuild, and future drafts. This year is a "midfielder" draft and we will be selecting fairly early.

The taller players also take longer to come on. So go tall last couple of drafts and midfielders this year.

You don't rebuild in one draft. I am also really liking this years picks. Even down to Borlase and Newchurch who may never make it but are already showing really good signs.

The only one on draft night I was very iffy on was Rowe as his father wasn't blessed with pace and that is the knock on him too. It's a great story and from what I have read and seen since the lad will leave no stone unturned to get the best out of himself. So I'm onboard now with that pick too.

Would far prefer someone like Rowe who will be having a crack than a wasted talent like Stengle who I'm comfortable putting a line through. Would love to see Stengle make something of his talent, but there's been many players with talent never make it.

Disagree with that last statement.

We aren't very good, but we aren't the league worst.
We are clearly the worst .... by looking with your eyes and backed up by stats last year

we are 1 dimensional in there lacking class and speed and struggle to even defend without the ball

we are lucky ROB is so good

port embarrassed us in there and we only kept the score to what it was with some reasonable efforts forward and back

our stoppage work last year was comical and there was no improvement on sat , good opposition granted but it’s also what happens when the ball leaves congestion which is just as worrying

Would he, haven't seen a lot of Duursma in the midfield just yet, seems to playing more a wing/forward role doesn't he?

Chayce I'd just play in the midfield with one instruction "get the pill", again on the weekend he's more worried about his player than going all in to take 1st possession. Our coaches of the past have stuffed the kid, hopefully VB can sort him out before it's too late.
Duursma is starting to roll inside with his bigger body and running capacity , he’d be a centre square starting mid for us at the level he’s at now

agree re Chayce , nailed it

Agree that the long term looks promising if we nail some mid picks this year

Anyway how is that Sam Berry kid? Back on topic.

Cannot be doing more at this stage than he is. Looks an absolute beauty and hard as a coffin nail. I cannot believe where we picked him up in the draft. Early days but he is looking like just what we need in the midfield.

Hopefully in the 1s this weekend.

VB was shocking at the midfield craft, a dear in headlights. Had no composure at all....the most over rated player and luckiest player to get to 200 games ever.

I think Duursma at the Mchenry pick was the more obvious one and he’d be close to our best mid already ... you are correct we were happy with Jones . Not too late for him but fear he’s a confused player , not playing with any instinct or confidence like the young player he was

what ya think is key to him from here ? I’m running out of ideas
Some of us were not happy with the jones pick as we wanted the club to trade up like port did and grab a genuine star in that draft..hats off to port for doing what we shoukd have done and cough up big to get star quality

Dude. VB isn't even the luckiest 200 gamer at Adelaide.

We now have 3 first round picks from the great 2018 draft.

Ned is the only one looking much of a player at all at this stage, and he’s not showing first round quality either
I’m not as worried on Hately as some others but he’s no star

Ned has improved which is good , might play a similar higher forward role to Riley Knight and be an upgrade eventually

It’s proved to be a club changing draft for Port - it’s changed their direction for 8 + years

at the time Jones was a very decent prospect so was also expecting big things , it’s disappointing so far .... hopefully the better coaches we have now can help but in the end it’s up to him and he’s playing with no composure or confidence

I am hopeful that last years draft will be THAT draft for us (albeit we didn't need to heavily trade our way up in that draft like port did in 2018).

I think this years draft is just as important for us and we need to nail our 1st and 2 x 2nds in what is being said to be a very strong draft pool and if we decide to look to cash in on one of our senior players, hopefully we can get another high end pick.

Agreed ! If we can back that up with 2 A grade mids this year it will hold us in excellent stead for next 8 years + ... will just take longer to see the fruits

At least we ended up with a Berry. They seem to have a good strike rate.

Jarrod Berry clearly the best so far.

Tom Berry - 6 games but just debuted
Bill Berry - played 69 games in the 70s-80s
Dom Berry - 1 game for Hawthorn in 1992
Reg Berry - 26 games in the 1910s
Jeff Berry - 45 games in the 70s-80s

Bar honestly isn't that high to become an above average Berry

KM was saying he was at a similar level to Serong at the same age he last played at.
