Re: Sam Blease

i thought he looked exactly how i described in the op but maybe i was looking for it

Didn't see that acceleration off half back when he received the handball and then hit Sylvia with a 50 metre pass at half forward in the third quarter then?

No?

Ok, youre offically a ****wit.:thumbsu:

Re: Sam Blease

Good on him for getting a game, did some good things as soon as he got on. Good bit of desperation in gunning for the footy on the wing, and that kick to Silvia from half back / wing was awesome to see.

Hopefully he has many games to come, it's always weird seeing someone you played footy against on the TV!

Wait until they start winning Brownlows :o

Re: Sam Blease

Hard to tell from only a quarter and a bit. Showed a good bit of dash through the middle. Would have liked him to kick that goal from 50 but oh well.

Got more touches than Bennell. Poor kid struggles to get a kick :(

im not having another internet tiff with ya mate cuz ya clearly dont have much else to do, 1 that wasnt a fifty metre pass that was a long bomb in clear space, which i never thought hed have a problem with, which sylvia made look good

i also saw him try to run past 2 blokes an get a lucky in the back free kick , plus also in the back half running back towards the goal, turn , panic and handball over the boundary line under minimal pressure.. at the end of the day, ill see the bad cuz im looking for it, ull see the good cuz ure looking for it, u wanna add insults aswell, go fa ya life... im here to give me opinion not try to be a key board warrior

how do you think i feel, i played with jarryd blair for 4 years and one 2 underage premierships with him an watched him win a premiership in his first year!!

Re: 46. Sam Blease

Looked pretty tired in the third and was surprised he wasn't substituted. Wasn't afraid to take the came on. Definitely a pleasing game.

Re: 46. Sam Blease

Wait... isn't this the soft hack who should never get a game for Melbourne?

10/20 contested posessions and a lot of dash = very pleasing performance.

I will put my hand up and say that i was and am still a critic (less so now),

Viney said all the things that i have mentioned when his name is brought up for selection,

This is his ability to work defensively and work the zone, he has probably had enough good games at Casey, if not all strung together to justify his selection

You must love his running capacity, blistering speed, line breaking speed, his disposal from what i saw in the second half (had lunch with the mother during the first) was good

If he can improve on the his deficiencies then he will be great, had good possession numbers yesterday, as has been said high contested possession etc,

Has well and truly earn a recall next week, well done Sam

Re: 46. Sam Blease

No young player is perfect, I fully recognise his deficiencies.

But he has fantastic upside.

Agreed, no point setting bar to low though

Have no doubt he has the talent, and is only 21, lets hope for his first real pre-season and an explosive end to this year and start to 2012 :)

Blease

I like what I see with Blease.

Great pace (unbelievable run and carry early in the 3rd), good kick, and a bit of mongrel.

Don't want to go calling him a future star, because there's plenty of time for him to be Melbourne-ized and peter out into a career of mediocrity, but I'm starting to think it may have been worth the wait with this kid.

Thoughts?

Re: Blease

I agree with the positives but....

He refuses to chase his opponents, cost us maybe two late goals, JOGGING after an opponent down the wing when he has ELITE pace WTF

was pissed off at this

Re: Blease

I think he was just spent, to be honest. Only 2 touches in the last which may back that theory up. His chasing and tackling was on show earlier in the game.

I agree it did cost us a goal, but he is forgiven. ;)

It's not his pace that's the problem at the moment, he doesn't have a good enough tank, the speed of AFL is a big step up for someone that hasn't played much footy

Yeah this is something we have to deal with while he learns his way in the AFL... he should play on the wing for now and can go to the backline when he learns some accountability.

That too, he looked absolutely spent when he came off the ground late in the last.

Re: Blease

He'll be brilliant with a proper preseason

Agreed, I've really liked his two full games the last two weeks. Although he seemed to tire quickley today.

Needs bigger tank, good thing his best mate is Scully (assuming Scully is staying... :o )
