Have we forgotten about this guy?
No one seems to have said anything about him on here. He broke his leg this year, with a good pre season he will slot into the the team. He is a gun footballer, i was more excited about him then Watts IMO.

Dean said on SEN on Friday morning that he is making good progess, but is still not running at 100%.

Personally this worries me. Sounds like it was a really bad injury. Particularly given his no. 1 asset was his pace.

Not much to say about him, obviously people were looking forward to him playing but since the injury I think everyone's just hoping he fully recovers.

Did he say Blease is unable to run at %100? I'm thinking it might be a precautionary thing.

He just said he's not running at 100%. Be that by design or can't i'm not sure. He did go on to say he expects him to be back up and going by the new year so hopfully its all part of his modified program.

It is odd that the club has said basicly nothing, both written or spoken since the injury.

I would guess it's just so they don't give the wrong impression about his progess. If they came out now & said he's doing okay, but Blease misses half of 2010 due to the same injury, then a lot of people would be pointing fingers with "but you guys said he was okay."

Keeping in mind he's only 18, so we can afford to wait a little while longer for him to recover. He's a future prospect, not a present prospect.

Blease broke his leg at lunchtime at school.

A valid reason why all draftees must have completed school in order to qualify to be on a teams list.

I can't believe this happened in today's day in age of profession.

you make a good point. but what if we then have kids dropping out of school to get on an afl list earlier?

With the draft age now up to 18 most will have completed school, the odds of a freakish lunch time accident will now be even lower.

I just watched some Blease youtube footage to remind me how good he could be. I'd love to see him play 10 or so games this year, find a bit of footy and get a feel for it. I'm not expecting him to even do as much as say Scully and Trengove but a step in the right direction after a not so great first year would be nice.

Cant wait for Blease - Ive heard hes got an excellent work rate and is ultra competitive.

He was one of the 17 y/o's when we drafted him but he was still quite skinny. Ive seen some footage of him recently and his upper body looked like it was starting to get some muscle on it so I guess he's been focusing on that while he cant run. Im guessing he'll need to catch up with some leg weights when he's ready.

As ive said in another thread this really worries me. I had been told it was Nathan Brown type break and if so it could be over before it even begins.

Apparently the boy can kick like a mule, just seeing but does anyone know which leg was broken?

I can confirm this, i saw a groupd of the melbourne boys out saturday night but didn't speak to any of them. Cheney, Spencer, McKenzie, Dunn, Petterd and Blease. I was quite suprised at the size and height of blease, he didnt look out of place with the other blokes.

As for the injury i assume Melbourne would be taking a precuationary option as he is young and no need to rush him into full training yet. He has time on his side, whereas Nathan Brown (a more severe break) pushed back pretty hard over the pre season to be right for round 1. We don't need to put that pressure on blease.

Add in Bate and you get the mfc rangas and friends. I imagine they would all be slaying the ladies!

Oh boo hoo, it's not a valid reason at all.

I can't believe a teenager was being a teenager, get a grip.
