He’s a pretty high functioning kid and a great story but let’s not kid ourselves that he’d produce the same numbers in the team we have currently and the way we play.
Bulldogs played finals last year and are doing well this season without two of their top 5 players Bont and JUH.
They kick it him, 13 uncontested marks this year our highest out of the D50 are Kmac and Ross with 15.
He wouldn’t take their positions.

Good luck to him but I think it’s more about timing than anything else.
Let’s not forget it was us that identified him out in Gippsland community footy.
We’ve still got that talent at our club.
 
Pretty inexcusable mistake. Would walk into our starting wing spot for the next 10 years. Our biggest list need is outside run, speed, work rate with a touch smarts/class. Davidson would've helped a ton.

Talent identification at the club is still a huge question mark to let this guy through the cracks when he's right in front of our faces on a daily basis.

Also disagree. Davidson just gets to the right spots and does not stop running. Very intelligent footballer.

Have a look at the last 7 full games Sam Banks has played.

Then look at what Davidson has done in his 3 games.

Slightly different roles but consider Banks has similar disposal average, higher average player rating, more hard ball gets, higher contested possession rate, is a better kick & 2 years
younger + playing in a much weaker team.

Then look at your comment again.

I like you MR but Davidson is vastly superior player to Banks. Happy to let this one play out though and we can revisit it.
 
So ahhhhh we all talking about Davidson but not Dambrosio or that Essendon bloke?
 
One piece of the puzzle that might give some of us consolation is the bloke who did our VFL talent identification the last 5 years, Ollie Grant has been promoted to our AFL Recruitment team. Actually stepped up last year so had a fair and in last years draft.

Certainly doesn’t help with Davidson or the VFL Tigers currently plying their trade on other AFL lists atm, but we do have a gun recruiter taking charge of the Victorian arm of our recruiting team

Talent ID prob not right area to impune as they’d argue they were the bastards that bought him to the club , List management does the rest , it’s a shame we didn’t rate him like WB did , time to move on tho

there is more to this not that I am within 500km from the decision makers.

we are here to win premierships and Davidson may not suit that timeline.

So he can achieve success elsewhere and it might be best for everyone.

Put it this way, we can always trade for him later in 5 years if all parties want it

He’s 23 , of course he could be a valuable piece on that journey to premiership mountain , remember u ain’t parachuted on, it’s a trek and u dint get their with a bunch of school kids and a map and compass .

we got him to our VFL program.

good footballer ~ won some VFL award.

we didn't take him in the MSD. We take Gray Blight. Who were cover for 2 KPP ACL players

Davidson in the national draft ~ taken pick 51 by the dogs. On the Hawkins wing.

When I saw him play he was rucking, KPF. The Doctor can run.

On the wing..Hugo is insane runner.

I think the club was gearing up for a huge draft.

it is not a trek. it is more like a bus adventure I think

Sure he can be parachuted in. Look at Pickett.

We just are in development stage and we are trying a lot of options. So of our guys will not be playing in 5 years, some will, we are not winning a premiership right now.

So patience is a virtue and we have plenty of options to fine tune a up and firing premiership combo as and when they grow and become ready with a few add ons. The other thing is he may become a doctor in the mean time yet, lot of water to go under the bridge. He looks like bit of a runner, we may not need that by the time we are contending, we will have to wait and see I suppose

It aint a matter of list spots empty. It was a choice over Gray, Blight. Blight is playing, well.
2023 to 2024 Miller got elevated, Bigoa, Bradkte delisted. Young was on rookie list at time of MSD
RFC list usually has 36 & 8 rookies

2025 Young got elevated. Only 6 rookies again, 2 rookies can be taken MSD or pre season.

Coming off the worst year ~ the focus was hitting a strong draft. Mid year rumours of Baker, Bolton, Rioli wanting out, for high draft picks.

Dr Sam getting paid double now than he would have as a rookie at punt road.
 
There. Are three Sam’s and one Massimo on our current VFL List, surely one of them needs to be selected in the Mid Season Draft
