Sam Day is by far the most talented player in this year draft and IMO by far the best.
He is 195 cm, he is either a KEY Forward or Defender. Fantastic contested mark and his skills are exceptional. See last year country champ highlights along with video clip on TAC stars on the weekend. Kicked two beautiful snaps for goal and the way he crashed the pack taking a contested mark was awesome and brutal.

He has much more agility than Nic Nat and he has recorded a higher leap than Nic Nat.

This kid has been offered a U.S basketball and Baseball scholarships.
I also read an article at the start of the year and he said he wasn’t that keen to go to the Gold Coast which is the opposite of what Jack Darling has stated.
Day likes Melbourne coz he has friend and family here I would assume his first preference is to stay in Adelaide.

Shifter, McCartney and even KB were today all blowing bubbles up Day’s behind, wraps on this kid are massive! KB obviously seen him first on Saturday prior to our match.

How do we get him? He is the star quality big Key position player we need? Perhaps the biggest piece in our puzzle.

We need to be aggressive and get back to cunning and ruthless!!!!!!!!!!!
We need to talk to this kid and convince him to SNUB the coast, lets offer this kid a 3 year contract. Offer him above the basic contract remuneration.
We need this kid, we need to get what is rightfully ours, if we finish last we need to be compensated with the best young kid in the draft HENCE SAM DAY

Gold coast have already used first pick on Swallow, then there is Bennell, Day, Darling, Gaff and Cook all fighting for the next two spots but I think Day is certainty.

I dont think you quite understand how the draftv works.
You dont get to offer contracts, the only players that can put a price on their head are out of contract AFL player, the only possible way that the kid can snub the GC is to sit on the sidelines for two years playing no footy.

We've already debated this topic and a lot of people want another gun midfielder. I see where they are coming from and that's cool, but I want a CHF.

Whether he will be available or not depends on whether the Gold Coast want to get gun mids or a gun spine, or perhaps more to the point whether they think they can poach mids or talls from other clubs.

This kid sounds pretty good though.

pj is right , if we are to believe dimma, we will be going for someone like Gaff to really give our midfield a diamond cut edge with a precision ball user...No way that Day would be overlooked by GC

Ah, that's not right, any player can put price on his head and the club who drafts him has to pay it,

Brad Ottens did it, jason macarthy did it, James cook did it, and I'm sure there was another player in the last 6 drafts did it as well.

And it's a restraint of trade to restrict any body having an asking price fir there employment.

I think the idea has merrit, for egs. Sam Day can put 200k a year on his head for 3 years, it's upto to the club who picks him to pay him.

From wot I understand if he went to the united states he would be on that as a minimum. After Alex keath turn around the coast might b a little gun shy.

On "on the couch" hardwick seemed to indicate that outside mids are what we will be loking at.
It's a double bluff, hardwick has a preference for tall's, he said we lack an outside player he didn't say he would use our 1st pick to get him, that would be a waste, wen there's lamb polec etc available later.

If that was our tact then I would rather give our pick 4 for dangerfeild. And we all know that won't happen.

I think its safe to say at pick 4 this year we will get a gun and the top 5 could all be the best player from the draft.

A player can always put a price on his head, even if he hasnt been in the system which obviously includes under 18 kids.
If Day does put a price on his head and Gold Coast pick him up - well they have to meet that obligation.

I agree we cant offer him a contract before the draft but u would think u would talk to the kid and guaranttee we will pick him up and hopefully by putting a price on his head might to deter Coast in picking him up. I dont think Coast will pay a kid more money than the other 17 kids they have drafted. It would not look or feel right amongst the other kids they have recruited.

Sheeds is already crying foul about clubs talking to young kids regarding to snub GWS.
I say if the AFL dont want to help us - well its us against them and we need to play hard and dirty.

Of the players mentioned above (Day, Swallow, Darling, Gaff, Bennell & Cook), GC will take 4 of them, which 4 only they know. Whichever player they leave us with pick 4 will be a gun player, whether we get an outside mid is debateable.

My personal opinion is the player with the greatest upside is Jack Darling from WA. However, I am fairly sure that he will not be available at pick 4.

shit double bluff

GC can get quality mids with #5, #7, #9

they'll pick the eyes out of the best KP talent with two of their top 3 picks, especially when the KP talent is top shelf this year

darling may slide but day will not

he indicated that outside mids ar what we're looking at, but i take it as this is one of our deficiencies, not necessarily something we need to address with pick 4. just throughout the draft.

Fellas,

I have come across some very good info.

I work in finance and my company does alot of work with Sam Days old man. I never knew it was his dad until this morning. However apparently they don't want him going to GC because they want family around him and if GC are going to draft him he will go and play baseball, but football is his number 1 choice. This could mean we get him.

Interesting stuff...

The problem will be that the Crows will loom as a real chance to get in his ear and play that same card on us.

The Gold Coast can probably gamble on picking him regardless and if he goes off to the US on scholarship then at least they have a plethora of other top picks.

On the other hand, if we pick him and he never even turns up to training there will be mass suicides amongst the Tiger faithful!

I don't think Vic is a worry because he has family here. I don't think he is so precious he won't go anywhere other than SA but he just doesn't want to go to GC or his family doesn't.

This :thumbsu:
We need Jack Darling.

No Gaff, we probably won't get him, no way we'll get Day. We will have either Darling or Bennell to choose from I would think.
