Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
I personally think anywhere from 10-16 (ie. a bit more than his initial draft position) is fair value based on recent form. However as we know, there’s always compromise and it depends on what the other club can offer. Btw this is purely hypothetical; I don’t think SDK will leave.
This one feels a bit like the shoe on the other foot. It's not often Geelong find themselves in this scenario. They're usually the ones doing this to other clubs...
I've heard that this one has been in the works for around a year now. SDK is 23 and is out of contract this year. The Suns will need a replacement for Sam Collins (31 this year) in the coming years. Witts is turning 33 and will likely need to be replaced soon too so De Koning could serve multiple roles if he makes the move north.
The article does suggest SDK is expected to stay at the Cats, but as is always the case, the longer he goes on without a contract extension, the more people will speculate on his future. Dimma has a fairly good strike rate at the Suns so far with Rioli being linked around this time last year. Should be interesting to follow, regardless of the end result.

Suns' sights on out-of-contract Cats tall
The Suns are eyeing Cats tall Sam De Koning, who is out of contract at season's endwww.afl.com.au
BallardI don't really understand this one to be honest as to why gc would want him or why he would want to go there.
Collins has just signed til 2028 and Ballard and Andrew longer and you aren't playing all 4 in defence. He isn't playing Ruck with Moyle signed for 4 years and he isn't needed forward with walter read and king. Who out of that lot would they be trading to bring him in? For what he would cost gc would not be improving a weakness much I don't think and he would want to go somewhere he has a clearly defined role. I could think of half a dozen clubs that are better fits for him.

Weird request, but okay:Ballard
Ballard
Why did Luko under contract go to Port despite wanting to stay? If you are not in the best 22 you eventually go. Nobody wants to play in reserves. SDK > Ballard is the thought. Why would Ballard be going anywhere if he just signed for 5 years? Makes no sense.
Yeah, most fans think the same. Weller and Clohesy look pretty good on flanks.gold coast need small forwards / hff not sdk

Not that it's going to happen, IMO. Ballard did have a down year last season.
After drafting Read, Walter Luko was dispensable. I don't think Luko was lazy though he looked like that sometimes, he actually run hard.Yes but correct me if I'm wrong part of the reason you were so keen to trade luko (apart from his overpriced salary) is he can sook and be lazy. Ballard isn't either of those so why would hardback want to trade him and why would he want to leave just after signing?
I agree with the other poster who said the Suns need quality small forwards. For example that would be a huge upgrade on guys like Holman and long etc. Whereas your key position stocks are that good sdk would be a minor upgrade at best for a high price. Makes no sense to me.
Rowell for De Koning would almost suit both clubs needs.
Given the progress O'Sullivan has made and Henry having his best year to date.
Geelong went deep into September without Sam and to be honest, what ultimately cost them another premiership opportunity was the lack of a quality midfielder like Rowell.
Although, things may change if Sam flourishes in the ruck this year.
Suns will offer up Rowell as trade bait. DeKoning will resign. We will then get Rowell on the cheap. Book mark it
I was thinking the same thing, SDK to Suns makes zero sense outside of Suns knowing they have a player with degenerative knees or something like that and are replacing them.I don’t see how it would suit the Suns at all, and you’ve only highlighted how it would suit Geelong lol
Tbh it doesn't strike me as suiting the suns that much but you guys kicked off the discussionI don’t see how it would suit the Suns at all, and you’ve only highlighted how it would suit Geelong lol
We don't have that choice unless Conway gets fit which is historically unprecedentedOnly a practice match I know, but still gets absolutely belted physically in the ruck. Skills and mobility are exceptional for a big man but Cats would be hoping he shows a bit more competitiveness in the contest as their main ruck.
Still think he ends up down back before the seasons over.

How is there no place for him in the backline? Will leave I reckon. No real place for him in the backline and keeps getting hammered in the ruck.
