Hardwick had a pre existing relationship with Rioli. I would shocked if they met. I think only way SDK leaves Geelong would be if he wants to play key back instead of ruck. Even then I couldn't see him going to the GC.
Even if he wants to play key back, by the end of the season loch ness might actuality be ready to play a game of footy

We've heard rumours on our board that SDK has been in talks with us since early last year. I wouldn't be surprised if Dimma has already met up with him. I think it's unlikely he joins us, but you never know.
Don't really see why you'd want him. Ethan Read who's an extraordinary talent basically played the exact role SDK played on the weekend all throughout his juniors. Would have thought the club would stick with him as their successor to Witts if Moyle isn't up to par.

Down back I can see as an option, but again, GCS are fairly stacked for KPP all over the place.

the guy carrying a knee issue for weeks, team is not going to take a punt on a guy underdone. could be wrong, but more chance tom dekoning going to geelong as a FA end of next year than sam dekoning trade to carlton end of this year.

just had to quote my own post, how badly the brothers want to play together?

I see SDK as a key defender (his premiership position) that can replace Sam Collins or potentially a ruck that can replace Jarrod Witts as those two get deeper into their 30s. We will need to replace these guys in the next 2-4 years and recruiting a 24yo SDK would make a lot of sense age wise. Also, I don't see SDK as a full-time forward, even though he probably is capable of playing there.

I think Dimma is pretty determined to continue playing Ethan Read as a key forward who will occasionally relieve in the ruck (not full-time) while Walter and King play as the permanent key forwards. I don't take too much notice of junior positions because things change so often when players get into the AFL e.g. Ben King was drafted as a key defender and has only ever played as a key forward at the AFL level.

He just had a near BOG game playing in the Ruck, wouldn't be surprised if Sam himself said he wanted to play in the midfield.
He's versatile enough to play multiple positions and Scotty is know for valuing players who play multiple roles over guys who only play one position.

Him choosing to stay as reported last night would suggest getting to Free Agency and reevaluating from there.
