In my opinion re doc
This is where bolts will earn his money
It’s not the entire backline that are out for 18
So a good coach should implement a plan to cover
That’s why they get paid the big bucks.
So let’s see what happens
If the backline goes to shit then I’ll know bolts as influential he is maybe he just won’t have the answers

The only positive I see is that Simpsons on his last year and we need to find a long term replacement for him. Whoever steps up to fill Dochertys role will be accelerated in replacing Simpson next season. Geez this is sucky news though. Thought we would move up into around the 8-14 bracket next year but we will be bottom 6 again next year. Not to be all doom and gloom though one more year down the bottom and another top pick into the squad and we have the cattle to push into the 8 and stay there for the next 5 years.

Not the way Blues fans expect to begin pre season - our best player out for the year :(

But in retrospect - it was a sweeping loose man role in the backline. Its there for Byrne and/or Mullett to shine if they want it.

Interestingly considering Doc was touted to have more of a midfield role. Perhaps Bolts already planned to cover Doc at HB with Mullett, Byrne, Macreadie or Weitering. In that role.

Does that mean we actually need a midfielder as a DFA to cover Doc, seeing Boekhurst is training with the club. Maybe he gets another chance as a rookie?

I've said it before but I reckon Lamb should be trialled in Docherty's role. He is tough character with a great work ethic and a good ball user.

IMO struggles with tricks for a forward and with an improved midfield may be pushed out. Defence may well be the role he needs
No need to get so defensive soap! :)

Why is Doc doing his ACL 'good to hear'.

Am I misreading your post.
Injuries are inevitable, now we get to see if we can cover the obvious cracks this creates. with time to redevelop before it become critical for our longer term growth.

Ahhhh he is a little more than that mate.

Hopefully we have used up our quota of bad luck over the last few years and we get a clear run in 2019-20.

I disagree

This is the pinnacle of bad luck which will see us have a horrid injury run for the entire year.

It might in the first few games as the players adjust to not having doc, but hopefully it starts to come together better after that.
