Sucks big time for Doc - for a talented player to have to write off a whole season of his career, just like that, is a bitter blow.
Sucks for us fans as we won't be able to watch him play this year.
For a team still rebuilding, it's a setback but not a disaster and there will be some benefits as players will be forced to step up. Bolts would probably call it a "learning opportunity".
As other posters have suggested, it's not as if we were planning a tilt at the flag next year.

Can definitely see him moving into the captaincy role at the end of next year after spending the season picking the brains of the coaches and learning from the sidelines.

Hopefully Williamson and Byrne can step up- Judd's injury was the unearthing of Cripps.

And Rowie’s (then ASOS’s) the making of Jones.

Devasting news for Doc hope he comes back to his best. Now Obviously gives the likes of willo,MCreadie,Byrne, mullet the opportunity to step up.Simpson and Thomas can help out down back for leadership for the year. The only positive if you could call it that,is that it's happened before the draft so if Sos needs to rejig selections he can plus the dfa window hasn't shut If other players are required.
I'd be disappointed if this influenced our draft choices in any way (another DFA on a 1 year-deal could work to fill a spot). Given Williamson, Byrne and now Mullet are all there and capable, it will be up to them to shoulder the burden.

Also, I'm ****ing sick of our annual "preseason surprise"

I feel seriously sick!

Questions must be asked though:
- why are we training on a sub standard AFL ground?
- what sort of drill was it on Day 3 of preseason (after 6 weeks off) to cause an ACL tear?
- why do we continue to suffer so many stress related injuries during preseason ... Cripps, Mckay and now Doc?

To those that think we can cover Doc are delusionally optimistic - I am so pissed off!!!!

Worst news but you’d put money on Doc before most in being meticulous with his rehab and come back 2019 unaffected and in best possible shape post an acl. Such a great clubman he will still have a strong impact next year off the field.

Unfortunately not many players return back to their best after an ACL! And are also more prone to doing it again.

Hope Doc has got something to keep him occupied throughout next season aside from his rehab as he will need to keep motivated (which won't be a problem) and not get bored especially nearing game day.

Beyond shit. Of all bloody players. Poor doc.

Potential silver linings: Will test Bolts and is a chance for plowman etc to step up a notch. Also gives cripps a chance to pump up his leadership credentials.
Imagine if it was kennedy or Cripps it ed or Murphy
Then that would be a big shit re midfield

We’ll be alright
Not in window yet
