News Sam Docherty - Another ACL :((

I've mentally checked out of Docherty being part of our playing group from now on, regrettably.

Not expecting him to come back with any real impact. If he does, well great, a handy player to have.

But I'll cope by not considering Docherty part of the playing list for the future, we'll have to win 17 without him on the field.

I remember various injuries and illnesses over the years. They do affect a team without doubt but its a team game and they will stand up with that little extra steel in them I am sure. A bit of 'Lets Win it for Doc' won't do any harm at times. They did it for Motley and Des English in much worse circumstances.
Times like these is when they need strong support rather than tantrums more than ever from all us and the many thousands that live for Navy Blue.

Sorry for the intrusion and sorry to hear about Doc - terrible for him.

But I just wanted to share that this is what really pisses me off about the AFL media and the sensationalism about "miracle comebacks" etc regarding Goldsack. He did not suffer a complete ACL tear like Docherty and other players - it was a "partial" tear which is the reason why he came back so early. End of the day, we're all human and can't half recovery times because we have "heart" like the AFL media machine would suggest.

Sucks for Doc.

Good post. Goldsack was also playing for his career - Docherty is an established star and there won’t be any risks.

Our medical staff have to be the worst to ever exist. True to form, they probably had him on the shittiest rehab program known to professional sport. I know that bad luck can happen - see Alex Johnson but ffs if anyone thinks our medical staff didn't play a part in not getting his knee 100% they're kidding themselves.

Sucks big time for both Doc and the club.

Doc was right to go befor the season finished but he & the club decided extra rehab was the go ..

Whilst devasting for Doc one player does not a team make.Yes we will miss his intercept marking.Yes we will miss his leadership on field however if we as a club are to go forward we can’t rely on just one player.Others now have the opportunity IF they want it.

what's that fast-track op you don't hear much about anymore? is that still an option - saves a few months of time.........

They do what's called a hybrid now, synthetic ligament and hamstring tendon. Don't do the straight LARS anymore. I had one done a couple of years ago, was back jogging after eight weeks although they still recommend at least 9 months rehab.

Good for tradies etc who need to get back to work. With footy players its more about having that stability while the hammy ligament takes hold so you can start rehabing quicker, building muscle sooner etc.
