I think I may have had enough of the 2019 season already.

Yeah for the marking bit, but for Doc a big part of his game was the drive off half back once he took possession. Marhy is more a mark and hold, dish off, kick sideways kinda player.

Having said that, there is a real opportunity for someone to make a statement this is what coaching groups, fitness staff and strategy peeps get the big bucks for.....find someone FFS.

Very true, could also be a chance for a younger guy like a LOB to establish himself in a role or add strings to the bow.

I think as long as the rest of the list stays healthy unlike last year we can overcome this better than we did this year.

Absolutely devastating news :'(:'(:'( Cannot think of a worse start to season 2019.

I really think Doc would have made a great impact in 2019 marshalling the backline. Such an impressive young man and totally undeserving of such back luck.

Hope we see him back on the field in 2020.

This is a very bitter pill to swallow, I'm genuinely shattered for the bloke, such a kick to the guts.
If LARS is an option, I think we roll the dice.

I've mentally checked out of Docherty being part of our playing group from now on, regrettably.

Not expecting him to come back with any real impact. If he does, well great, a handy player to have.

But I'll cope by not considering Docherty part of the playing list for the future, we'll have to win 17 without him on the field.
Thread has been sanitized to a degree, and still a myriad of pseudo supporters wanting to bag medicos, recruiters and anyone else to
feed some ridiculous agendas.

Mr_Plow I have to say that I find this the most disappointing post I came across. I have always regarded you as a good poster, but
to , in anyway suggest exclusion of a former team member, albeit such an important and revered one. Sam Docherty epitomises the
Carlton so many people are attempting to resurrect. To in any way exclude him as being a member of the group through both trials
and ultimately successes is an action I cannot cop.

The bloke, the playing group and the club has been dealt a devastating blow, do us a favour and find a better way to "cope".

A team, and a club must stand together.

Who do you think was responsible for his rehab program, Elmer Fudd? Sadly not because even he would've done a better job.

You have made your point and time to move on as nobody wants to hear it nor do they believe it.

Maybe you should drop into Visy park and have a go at managing our injured players yourself as you seem to be well in the know regarding if they are ready to play etc from your keyboard.

But maybe that will take time away from the online agenda driven hate you always seem to push on here.

In other words give it a rest.

Just heard we can replace Doc with a player from another league like Wafl or sanf etc. Like for like replacement.. even though he os replaceable.
You never mind we might find a gem in the rough.

Unfortunately we now need to plan for the future without Docherty. 2 ACLS, no one recovers and achieves the same level.
dean rice probably played his best footy - david schwartz the same.........

Yeah I can see how fine it was...

I love how bringing up the reality of the situation, gets you guys all hot and bothered. Have fun.

BF, you speak of "bringing up the reality of the situation" as if you know something real.

You have already admitted that "bad luck" can be an explanation - citing Alex Johnson without in any way impugning the Sydney medicos.

You are no doubt aware that if a player suffers 1 acl there is an increased likelihood of the player suffering a second acl.

It has been presented to you as "a fact" that Doc was considered fit to play finals last season had we been in such a happy position.

Can you kindly provide readers of your posts with "the reality" that you claim enables you to criticise our medical staff. It may be, as you say, that our treatment of injured players in past seasons including 2018 has not been exemplary. You will find no argument there from me.

But you cannot condemn our medical staff just because a player gets injured. It simply does not follow. It is a non sequitur. It is a futile pointless dummy spit.

And I am buggered if I know where the dummy is to shove it back in.

All CFC supporters are deeply shocked and gutted by the news Doc injured his ACL the same way & time as last year.

The club needs to find a landing place for the sh.t way we are all feeling! Talk to us but not in platitudes, draw us in around Doc & around our team & around our great club.

The shining light that could come from this is the galvanization of our club like we have never seen before.

These emotions are powerful - culture building if handled the right way.

In CFC, our players & our community I trust!

Good luck Doc - stay strong!

Unlikely he has an impact at all now. Some make it back, plenty dont.

First ACL was innocuous which was a bad sign.

Gutted for him and holy shit that kills a lot of our progress in in 2019.

Docherty was fit to play last 2 rounds of 2018 season. Was held back
Was as fit as he had ever been
Had no issues with the knee at all and knee apparently felt great.
Was being kept out of full contact drills until after Xmas as a precaution
All checks on knee had shown it had healed perfectly
It is over 12 months since reconstruction.
Happened without any contact etc. My read on it it is just damn unlucky
What else could have been done I don't know

Given the type of person Docherty appears to be I expect him to come back stronger and better than ever. Will still be a massive positive around the club.
Wrong footy boots I reckon. Dont laugh.

He did his ACL this morning, I'm not sure how you could possibly be disappointed with the time frame in which it took to release the news. They'd have to get him off the track, get him comfortable, call his wife and allow him time to try and digest the news before the Herald Sun got a sniff that he'd even hurt his knee. Then you have to actually have the MRI, which there wouldn't have been a rush on. Bizarre that you're annoyed about this.
I wasn’t annoyed and they provided feedback asap. I was hoping they weren’t going to leave us hanging for days.
