If it was injured in much the same way as the first time, then why does the blame for the second occurrence land on the medical/high performance team? If you stick your hand on a hot stove twice, you don't blame the stove for the second time.
hate that stove.....

love how our medical team is being called out for something like another player brushing past doc's knee........

#theyshouldhaveknown
Are you on the medical team or have some ulterior purpose in defending them?
They should be called out. ... worst season of injuries in carlton's history, wooden spoon.

Fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again!!!!

About half a dozen Carlton players have had a particular type of reco in recent years and all had infections post op . This info comes from someone within the club. I posted this in the rumour file not long ago.

Got to ask questions about our broader medical team.

The medical team complaintants is exactly the sort of irrational behaviour why Ambulence officers have to lobby to make advertising campaigns against violence towards them. There’s nothing preventable about it if it didn’t happen today it could have happened in the first JLT round 3 or round 16.

Never good to see players injure themselves.

From a club perspective, you can look at this two ways:

1. OMG, we lost Docherty. We're screwed. 0 & 22 season coming up. World is coming to an end or
2. We're in the fortunate position to cover Doc's absence through the recruitment of Nic Newman and return of Tom Williamson.

I prefer viewing the situation with point 2.
I'm gonna stick with option 3 till the new year

Don’t the sports recos get done at the Victoria clinic in Malvern?

What rubbish.
Common sense says the chances of this happening by luck a second time is virtually impossible.
He's either got a bad knee period or the reco wasn't done 100% tip top.
It’s a bad knee period. Done once the chances of it happening again go up exponentially even on the other knee because of the way a player will compensate. Of course it’s higher risk

Okay, so I know it’s only Facebook but someone mentioned seeing a video on Instagram of Docherty jumping on a trampoline over the weekend and that he may have landed awkwardly while doing so.

Not sure what to think...logic says it’s probably bs - any chance Instagram gurus could find such footage?

Apparently this footage was on his girlfriends Instagram story but is no longer up...

Fair dinkum....scrolling through 16 pages of this has got to have a serious impact on one's health. Time to go for a bloody walk on the beach, be grateful for 2 healthy knees, take a deep breath and hope like hell that the boys at Princes Park can all rally round Doc.

Tragedy like this brings unity and we are indeed united in a much bigger cause and purpose and we are interdependent upon one another.

Thank God for the support Thy has shown by the amount of likes he has hit tonight. Keep it up brother, 'c os we all need supporting at the moment.

And in moments of sudden tragedy, it is instinctive that we help each other; this is one of the better virtues of the CFC family; this is love; this is brotherhood. Love yas!!

This ******* sucks so much! It really puts the fear in me. It makes me wonder if Doc will ever reach 2017 form again. Don't want another Alex Johnson (nothing against Johnson though). It's just that the last thing we need is reliance on fragile players, especially at a time when the pressure on the club is mounting.

I suppose it teaches us not to be too dependent. We need to prove that we can perform without Doc. All we can do is wish him another speedy recovery.

Does this mean we can bring in two players? One for the extra spot and another to replace Doc?

Last year the Philly Eagles lost All American RB Darren Sproules before the season, then lost fellow AA's Jason Peters, Jordan Hicks, then QB Carlos Wentz before half way through the season.

They also lost AA Fletcher Cox, and Jaylin Watkins and Ronald Darby for extended periods during the season. All starting players, from every line, the most significant leaders in the team. All gone. And this team was not considered to be challenging, very much middle tier.
Yet THEY WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!

Moral of the story is, it's up to the playing group how this team responds to Doc's setback. Philly Eagles (like their West Australian cousins) took on the challenge, rewrote the history books.

To those naysayers out there (and there seems to be so many on this site), this is nothing more than an opportunity for someone else to, in the words of Morgan Freeman in Glory when he led the troops to certain death, "..It's time to addy up boys..."
Addy up Blues
