Absolutely shocking news for Docherty. My heart is always in my mouth when players are returning from an ACL, I can't imagine how nervous they would feel. Sam's made from the right stuff to get back to his best in 2020, perhaps a one-year contract extension on top of his current deal could be in order.

I worry how Setterfield is feeling now coming back from an ACL himself, hope he doesn't go into his shell.

Recently heard Sam recalling the initial apprehension with the comeback into training/jumping etc (as all returning injured players would) but quickly dispensed as good as new and normal thinking towards his knee.

Wondered the same with Setterfield as well, and if the cotton wool is wrapped around him / easy, easy on the program.

We don't need to bring in someone to replace him.
His absence last year was made worse by an almost total wipe out of our backline through injury.

Yes injuries hurt our backline as a whole but you and some others on here seem to be underrating Docherty’s value.

He’s easily our most versatile player. He can play small and tall. One of our best kicks and easily one of our best leaders.

We had some shaky backlines in previous seasons, and Docherty was always there to save the day alone with Simpson.

He is a giant loss. Particularly to a young team with a developing backline. It’s a bit of a worry that Jones is now still one of the only experienced players down back.

Then I jumped on BF and posters were starting to report it. I had to take this in..



Then it was confirmed. The usual flogs jumped on and blamed everyone from the medicos to SOS's trade..



My walk home was a sombre one..



I got home and needed to lay down..



But Mrs KohPhi, who absolutely LOVES Doc needed me, and I had to be strong..



Then I started thinking..



Does this open up an opportunity for, dare I say it, Brendon Goddard?? I quickly pushed such thoughts from my head..
