Great post. Doc could have played last year but the club took a cautious approach with him.ACLs are devastating. I know I feel like the Pies have had more than our fair share. Although the real fair share would be 0 across all clubs because no one deserves an ACL.
People have been saying Goldsack had a partial tear. That was incorrect reporting by the media. He suffered a full tear but was back in 6 months.
The two things that I've read he did differently to most reconstructions was he did a massive training load before the surgery. And they used a quad tendon rather than a hamstring.
Its unlikely Docherty will be back in 6 months because Goldsack took risks due to his age and the team's position. But he could play AFL footy next year.
I'm sure the club will leave no stone unturned to find the best outcome for Doc.Has anyone heard about Florian Lejuene? He's a Premier League footballer who injured his ACL and returned to action after just four months. Would love to get Doc over to see his surgeon.
think I'm gonna lose it .......courage is the most attractive of characteristics..........boy oh boy.............so moving really........
Sure they are...the public out pour is nothing like I’ve seen for a while testament to him. Having said that things move on quickly. Doc isn’t just cattleI hope the clubs is taking care of Doc mentally as well. Would be very tough for him.

The positive take i can think in all of this (if such a thing is possible), is that we will see Patrick Cripps flourish earlier than expected to be the greatest captain this storied football has had since Sticks Kernahan.
The constant upwards and maturity and leadership our Paddy has shown in every game, every year at our club has been nothing short of extraordinary.
And to be brutally honest, i just don't think co captains work (I think Melbourne are/were better off letting Jack Viney go jt alone) !
Sam Docherty will still be the intellectual/cerebral mastermind of our playing group, but Crippa will strive even better as a player and person as solo captain in 2019.
Hopefully Marc Murphy will also get a new lease of life unburdened by the weight of captaincy.
I have almost complete confidence in the direction and trajectory this footy club is headed.
But strange and ridiculous as it sounds, i feel we will be treated to see the emergence of the best leader at league lvel of a lowly club since the legendary Robbie Flower in Patrick Cripps.
We have an extraordinary gifted and inspirational young person as leader of our players, i truly believe he has the stones and work ethic of being solo captain of pur club at such a young age.
Not saying Doc's leadership and intangible playing abilities will be missed (i'd chop off one of my healthy knees tomorrow if we could get him back), but I firmly believe we can (and will) see our Paddy take his game to a whole new level
I know this is a massive call, but i believe its built on a foundation of substance (with regards to PC)
Public outpour the day of is one thing. Ongoing emotional support and giving him an ongoing purpose is another.
unusualDevastated for him. Couldn't have happened to a better bloke! The roar when he gets his first touch in 2020 will be one to remember.
Better story.been said before, wasnt a full tear only partial one, no clue why the media spun it out like he fully ruptured it
You tell him - should you get the opportunity - that I don't get to many games, but I'll be there the second he's available to be selected.Devastated for him. Couldn't have happened to a better bloke! The roar when he gets his first touch in 2020 will be one to remember.

Thanks for continuing to keep us in the loop.
There’s a lot of things Sam Docherty needs right now - but the best wishes of the Drug Cheats Football Club isn’t one of them.
I saw through his dirty little secret........Better story.
Decorated premiership player fallen on hard times - injury, issues with selection, old age - is injured then rises to play in record time. Story that appeals to everyone, provided one is unwilling to look too deep; even then, it's a pretty decent narrative. Goldsack is one of my favorite players outside of Carlton, as much because he's a good honest trier over a talented individual; he's a team player, he's always been forced to play accountably, yet he was as influential as anyone at Collingwood from 2009-current as to their culture and their drive to win.
Not talented, just a ******* hard worker. Why wouldn't you be willing to accept at face value his miraculous recovery?
something to do with if lars lets go it can be nigh on impossible to do anything about it.......You guys probably have talked about this but y are lars not really talked about anymore? Might be worth a look as the conventional 1 failed?
