News Sam Docherty - Another ACL :((

I kind of think that him and AJ are going to form a special kind of bond over the next year. I'm really happy they brought him into the club.

Both of them are going though the same rehab not for the first time, and both will be taking on a coaching type of role in 2019. I'd love to think that they will be collectively helping to nurture the younger guys on both the senior list as well as the NB's while they're both going through their rehab.

And from what you see from the footage when he did his knee for the last time, AJ seemed like a really popular guy with his Swans teammates.

Has anyone heard about Florian Lejuene? He's a Premier League footballer who injured his ACL and returned to action after just four months. Would love to get Doc over to see his surgeon.

Or have knees like Ben Robinson. Tore it 2 months out from the 2011 rugby World Cup and was in contention to make the squad. According to his surgeon he wasn’t really using his acl anyway...

Absolutely shattered for Doc. It had taken me over 24 hours to muster up the courage to post but unfortunately this sets us back quite a bit. I just hope we are MUCH better equipped to deal with his absence this year. If not we are in for another long year. Had a feel of Groundhog Day about it. It’s critical as we NEED to finish high enough to attract a big fish otherwise it we are wasting years without much progress.

Very hard to be positive about the year ahead as I’ve been looking forward to 2019 since about round 3 and now I’m already looking forward to 2020.

Anyway rant over and best wishes to Doc for the recovery. If you are reading mate you can do it and you have the whole support of the club. One day you will get back to your best and if the youngsters come good you may be able to hold up the cup with Crippa!

The news could have been worse.

The other good news is that the blokes we hoped would cover for Doch in 2018 are still around and not injured. We never got to see them in 2018, they are all up and about and bigger and stronger.

The other good news is that Cripps is one year older and stronger, Curnow is one year older and stronger, Fisher is one year older and stronger etc. etc.

We won half a dozen games in 2017 and lead in the last quarter in another half a dozen. This was with a team with many skinny young kids.

Those kids have grown up. If we have a decent run with injuries we will return to 2017 form, but this time some or all of those last quarter leads will be turned into wins.

Doch is one player, in a position on the ground that is able to be covered with a healthy list.

You guys probably have talked about this but y are lars not really talked about anymore? Might be worth a look as the conventional 1 failed?

I was just wondering the same thing. No-one seems to mention Lars any more as an option. Are there any surgeons reading this who know about this stuff? Is there a particular reason? Has Lars been officially discredited?

True. Then we can never use injuries as an excuse for a shitty season
West coast missed natanui and a suspended gaff and won a premiership.

Injuries are a rubbish excuse we should not swallow, if the game plan is set correctly.

Time for CFC to stop wallowing and move on from this with a statement to the supporter base.

If the loss of docherty sends our season into a tailspin for the second year in a row then we have bigger issues to deal with.

It should also be noted that 2 ACLs in a row will mean he will come likely come back a slower player than he already is. He may never be the same. Look at menzel and his struggles. Lost all his pace and ability to go for 2nd and 3rd efforts.

Club must move on now and protect season 2019. Cant afford another 2 win year

I doubt anyone at CFC is wallowing and there is no need for a statement to the supporter base. A recent article also states that we will not be topping up on mature players to cover his position, instead utilizing the players from within, also an indication that the club is backing the players and systems

something to do with if lars lets go it can be nigh on impossible to do anything about it.......

On their own they just keep snapping. Current thinking is attach a hammy ligament next to the synthetic one for instant stability and over time the hammy ligament should grow over and around the synthetic one.

Also if there are no ends to attach to they can't do synthetic.

From the man himself - going in for surgery ASAP , traditional reco to be done - this option presented as making the most sense given how many years are still ahead of him.

Confirmed he was back out on the track this morning as that photo suggested and has stepped straight back into a coaching role.

Seriously, the guy has no right to be back at the club already so quickly let alone hungry to stay involved.

Just goes to show we chose a captain who is made of the right stuff. What a legend!

was he out on the track today?

I wanna give him a hug after watching that video.
For some perspective,it’s cruel and we all know it but it’s not a terminal illness, just think of the sick kids at the RCH.
Let’s cross our fingers and hope his knee comes up better this time. Before we know it’s 2021 and he’s on the dais with Crippa holding up the cup.
