I was his biggest knocker on here when they tried him as a forward and its amazing how well a player can play when he is not played out of position. I am man enough to admit I was wrong and that hes actually doing s good job of contributing to the team.

Moore young Mitchell goodbye + Kane
 
Until the last month he was literally Cam Hitchcock. Now he's a gun midfielder. Who knew he was such a clean, smart little player? Probably anyone who had seen him in the SANFL but to those of us who had only seen him as a hack small forward at AFL level, the last month has been a mammoth surprise.

Before he was dropped last time he showed some real signs in one of the games at AO. Just never seemed he'd get another shot though, and/or that it would click. Great to see though that it is and he's now developing into our Barlow type mature age SANFL player who gets big numbers. If he can keep this up he will only get better as his skills improve.

Young has had one good month of football. Sam Gray has had one good month of football. The fact that Young's good month happened to come at the start of the year and Gray's good month happened to come at the end shouldn't factor into our list management decisions. I'd keep Young too, although next year is last chance saloon for him.
 
Thing is, Ah Chee's breakout wasn't entirely unexpected; he showed glimpses in every game, a big attack on the ball here, a Hercules handball there.

Sam Gray on the other hand, I am unconvinced he hasn't acquired himself a vat of Michael Jordan's Secret Stuff; he looks an entirely different player:
He's quicker
He doesn't fumble the ball
He shrugs tackles and doesn't fall over at the first hint of physical contact
He's kicking like a boss
And now he's just racked up 34 possessions and a goal against Hawthorn.

Sam Gray, who ARE you
 
I'm thinking S Gray promoted (forced by 2 yeas on rookie list). Krak left on the rookie list (can be there for 1 more year). Redden or P Stewart shuffled to the rookie list. Cornes gone. Then 2 more to go, Mitchell and Butcher.

I'd keep Moore and Young for 1 more year. If either were dropped I'd want to reelection them.in the rookie draft, or try and trade them for a pick improvement.

S Russell, Logan and Wagner definitely gone though.
 
Samwise is the benchmark for all our fringe players. Didn't bitch and moan when he was clearly being played in the wrong position but instead knuckled down and did what he could to ensure that he contributed toward the team. Then when he was given the opportunity to play his natural position he seized the opportunity and got involved.

I posted that when he was elevated in place of Krakouer that the coaching staff were probably doing so to make a judgement call on whether to promote him to the senior list. Welcome to life as a listed AFL player, S. Gray.

Woeful. Plenty of others to get rid of first.

Maybe I'm not thinking clear, why did we need to cut four and find room for Gray/Krak. Don't rookie upgrades still count as draft selections ?
