You know, I just thought I'd share the love and start a thread about this kid on your board. Jeez, I love watching him play, wish we had him at Collingwood, although I think we were looking at him prior to that draft.

He looks very hard, very athletic, great hands, will definitely be a player of the future. :thumbsu:

What are you? 10 years old?

You sounded interested in Gilbert so I thought I'd dig up some old threads for you to have a look at.

I wasn't criticising you at all.

If my post upset you that much then don't post here.

In that case, my apologies. I thought you were having a go at me for retracing old ground.

As it happens, I did have a read anyway, so thanks. :)

Now I feel guilty for my last post. :p

Like I said in my first post he's been one of the few shining lights for us so far.

Anyway it's good to see that some opposition supporters have noticed him. Perhaps the selectors of the NAB Rising Star award could do the same. ;)

I'd be surprised if he didn't get a nomination, but his chances aren't flash for the award itself as a first year player. He's played what, 7 games already? Unless for some reason he ended up with 10 or less this season, and so was eligible next year, he'd struggle IMHO. The selectors are a bit... dodgy when it comes to nominations in that they go with the hype.

You two (Sainter and Royal Sampler) are golden - for a minute there it looked like the '66 GF all over again!

Is Gilbert considered a rookie? I'm really impressed with the stock of rookies we've had this year - Attard, Gilbert, Jones. I think this is one of the best little improvements Ross Lyon's brought in.

The test will come I think in about 3-4 weeks, when we grab back a fair more players from injury. Some players are inevitably going to have to be dropped, just because of lack of room in the 22. Take the backline for example: We'll probably have Raph, the Fishers, Goose, and Maxy. In the forward line: Milne, Xav, Fraser, Roo, Hamill, Kosi if the other two rucks are back. Fitting Gilbert (or Attard or C Jones, for that matter) into either of those could be a bit tricky. They could go into the midfield, but it could be a bit chockers in there too.

Of course, that's a nice (not to mention REFRESHING) problem to have, but still.

Correct me if im wrong, but is it after round 14 you cannot have anyone on the long term injury list?? This would mean jones and attard as rookies would no longer be promoted to the senior list..
