Former Port Adelaide small forward Sam Gray landed at the Sydney Swans via the 2019 delisted free-agency period. The South Australian booted 83 goals in 96 AFL games after arriving at the Power as a rookie in 2013, his highest return a six-goal haul against the Western Bulldogs in Round 23, 2017. Gray will compete with names like Ben Ronke, Lewis Taylor and Sam Wicks for a spot in the Swans’ forward line in 2020.

Meanwhile, the club has advised Kaiden Brand, Sam Gray, Matthew Ling and Malachy Carruthers that they will not be offered contracts with the club for 2022.
Gray and Brand joined the Swans as delisted free agents ahead of the 2020 season. Both players made their Swans debuts in 2020 with Gray playing a total of seven matches during his two-season tenure with the club and Brand making five senior appearances.

Sam was never going to be much for us. We brought him in to add some experience on the cheap. Ended up we the younger guys developed faster than thought.
