When I stop crying (or am I melting eyes first) I will be excited about Sam Mayes. Quiet achiever. Top 10 quality. Quality lad too. I'd like to see him at HF or on a wing but I always thought he had the potential to go into the guts.

Mayes might be a good replacement for Jake Neade though who is out of contract and thus far no one wants.

Mayes is a proven AFL competent player. I know that seems like damning with faint praise but that wasn't the intention. 101 games since 2013 means he was a least a 1st 2 pick pretty well since drafted. Interestingly his Wikipedia page is already updated.

Mayes definitely appears to have some ability in those highlights, but I suspect the clincher for Kern may have been his `yous blokes ' statement at the presentation for his 100th game.

I remember there being alot of talk during the mass Brisbane exodus a few years back that we should poach Mayes. Happy to see him home. Wing and half forward for us. Will be a good pickup
