Its obvious manure hss someone on the inside of the mcgovern camp. Probably mcgovern himself. Why else would he be going with this all year? I have turned on gov. He is a serial disappointment and injury prone. Get what we can for him while we can.

Just like he went with Sloane going all year, until he didn't. And with Tom Lynch going all year, until he didn't. He doesn't know shit, he hasn't got any sources worth a damn, all he does is straight-up make "educated" guesses and hedge his bets and act like he knows what he's talking about.

He's a nothing journalist. If he ends up right on this one it will be by coincidence and nothing more.

I wouldn't be too quick to say McClure is wrong with Gov. Last year there were big concerns about him leaving, and I think where there is smoke there is fire.
Lets just be happy he has two years to go on his contract and we wont be screwed over at the trade table for him. Either a top 5 pick or GTFO.
And there is really no one who undersells its players value than Crows supporters.
I could t believe the amount of you guys saying CC was only worth an early second and the club should just take Brisbanes second rounder and run. As he showed this year before injuring himself, he was worth pick 12 all day every day. Even the biggest Brisbane flogs are now saying they did well getting him for 12.

I have no doubt that some Melbourne clubs were willing to throw a boatload of cash at Jeremy McGovern. If Carlton had any idea they would be at the top of the queue (and hopefully we were just behind them).

For a Mt Barker (WA) boy, money alone wold not get the job done. Like many before him, he has expressed the desire to play in the same team as his brother. Carlton could afford 5 X M$1.2 for Jez and 5 X K$800 for Mitch. For one first round draft pick (probably around pick 5ish) Carlton could pick up both brothers. No doubt McClueless heard the rumour and then claimed it as his own.

It was a similar story for Freo and they also had the cash to make it happen. Once Jez signed with the Eagles, there is only one place that Mitch might go.

IMHO, if The Eagles can pony up pick 5 or better then we will do the deal. This will depend on Gaff leaving which is quite possible at this stage (Gaff to the Saints, Mitch to the Eagles, pick 5 to us). Anything less and we let the last two years of his contract to run and then roll the dice.

Gov isn't that worth top 5.

I thought Darcy trolling him was fantastic as well. Clearly made something up while pretending to read off the run sheet and put McLure's name to it, and McLure lost his mind. Was up in arms protesting and proclaiming his innocence. I wonder if they were trying to make a point??

Saw an article on how ex-pats living on the eastern states, and by extension the Vics, Welshmen and Banana benders, saw South Australia from that part of Australia. Well it turns out they don't even consider us. We are a bit of a dismissive laugh but we don't really rate. We don't matter. It's not so much what they think of SA but more so they don't think of SA.
This makes it easy for posers like McClure. He can pot us, undermine and scorn us because his readership is only really concerned with the end result of his bullshit items - ie the feel good outcomes (even though they are unsubstantiated dreamings) for fans of teams on that side of the border.

Do you get he is pretty much no value to us when he's sooking for a move?
You don't know he's sooking for a move.

If he isn't looking to move then we wont move him on, its as simple as that.

But if he IS looking to move, then he cant afford to sook about it and play in a way that is of no value to us as 2 years of that will heavily diminish his contract value when he next negotiates one wherever it is he wants to go.

Every single list manager knows Govs potential to dominate and win games. A season cut short by some injuries doesnt change that, otherwise we wouldnt have used a first rounder on Lever.
They all see what he can deliver, and they know any kid in the draft is less of a chance to do what he has already at AFL level.

Then let him sook for two more years.
That’s a fair waste of a career. People who want him will pay on our terms (assuming Gov doesn’t go down the whole ‘AFLPA send help I’m a political prisoner’ path).

I would not be trading McGovern for anything less than a top 5 pick minimum. Anything less is a major loss.

To be fair his injury history isnt super, and weve seen him dominate average teams.

I think he has the potential to be a star, but its vastly unfulfilled at this stage

Fair comment. Partly because of injury, and partly because of actual performance when he hasn't been injured. Anyone can see the potential, but it has rarely been realised. Don't get me wrong, I want him in my team, but that's a fair assessment.

As for the rest - seems to me that there is no evidence - none at all - that MGov actually wants to leave, apart from McClure clickbait. And yet here we are, including him in our trade hypotheticals.

At most, he might be OPEN to a move (to WCE, probs). I don't think he's "sooking for a move" or asking for a move, so shortly after re-signing - that's just McClure BS.

Therefore: If he'd be open to a move, if that would be OK by him, then by all means let's do a trade - for TOP value only. And if that won't happen, then he will (IMO) say "righty-ho, then" and play out his contract, to the best of his ability, as a professional and probably good bloke. And that potential will be fulfilled, and we will win a flag on the back of it :) and then he can go.

I don't think it's a huge thing, quite honestly.

The thing is, he hasn't actually done it much in his career. He's always been exciting promise, and now it's three years later.

I'd rather keep him, because I don't think the market will offer us what we need him to be worth.
